RE: starting without a choke
I usually start my petrol engines by manually choking the carb with my finger and ignition off. Then start with a tickover speed until it warms up. The DL I have to use the real choke to prime it as the inlet is buried in the fuz. So I need a choke of one sort or another.
The McCulloch I have is a bit finicky and needs proper 1/2 choke for a few seconds whilst running or it bogs and stops. Why do you want to do without the choke? |
RE: starting without a choke
You need to prime the engine, either with a choke, tapered cork or the good 'ole thumb, or whatever else might work. [)]

A thimble full of gas in the Carb. should do the trick.
I have 4 gas engines and only one has a choke and this is what works for me. |
RE: starting without a choke
I had to choke mine. Used a slide plate. That was with a starter too. Gotta remember mine was old and wore out when I coverted it. Edwin

RE: starting without a choke
Sometimes when an engine needs a lot of choke, it's because it's running a little lean
on the low end side. |
RE: starting without a choke
thanks all i will see if i need it when i start it up and if i do i will get creative since the carb will be buried in the fuse
