I got a working CD ignition now so I am going to convert & run this SuperTiger .90. I am going to use 20% oil in gas for lube. I got about 5 mini spark plugs to try. 1/4x32 size. I may tap heat to 10mm later. I am going to bore out the ring hanging on end of propshaft to slip fit on hub. Capt.n

RE: Next conversion
Mine runs really well on Gas/Glow. Keith from BME modified it for me with roller bearings. I have it on a Twist 60 3D and it flies great.
Good luck with yours, Happy Thanksgiving, AV8TOR |

What size/brand/ prop and what RPM should I shoot for? I will try to get close to your RPM on Gas/spark ignition. I am going to try 20% Klotz oil in fuel, going on the theory...more oil more power! I have 3 other fuel and carb combinations to try also. Capt,n;)

Captain I have to ask... its killing me. Do you have like a warehouse full of converted motors finished? and ready to go? :D I have way to much stuff of my own but when I see how active you are , I can't imagine you having them all on planes, you must sell off some of them...

I am glad you asked. No I do not sell engines. I have many that are ready to be test run. I do not like to run them in cold snowy weather. As I read this conversion stuff, I just got the bug to do a few. Well I got to many now to finish. Thats ok, because I can use parts like on the Homelites to replace parts when I make a mistake like forgetting to remove the little ball that is spring loaded on choke shaft. It ruined one of my best engines. I can fix it with spare parts from the extra partly done engines. I have been helping my Grandson a lot with RC airplanes. He is in collage, but we get together quite often. He in turn is getting other collage kids into RC. It is real rewarding to me. I do help about everybody in the area on engine powered devices. In turn I have had some pretty good power products that people do not want. One was a Echo string trimmer, because the woman who owned it bought another one that started more easy. The Echo has very high compression. I do not understand how I come buy this stuff sometimes. I bought a Like new SuperTiger .90 with nice spinner and prop for $2...thats right ...two dollars. The head was missing...do not know why, the rest looks perfect! In the future there will be more give-aways, I got too much!!!! Capt,n;)

RE: Next conversion
I have 2 super tiger G-90's. Besides fuel prices and weight....what are the other advantages of coverting glow engines to gas? Are they more powerful,or more reliable like regular gas engines? And what all do you need to do to them to convert as far as the bearings go and carbs? Sounds kinda cool.
And Capt....I know what you mean about having all these engine just sitting around. Its about as fun building and testing these engines as it is flying them! I would however like to sell a couple, lol. |

The carburator was on engine when I bought the ST .90. In the photo I had it off and on yet another engine, 25cc Homelite! The engine has real good crankcase compression even with head off. I Sealed the top of the cyl with my hand and it has very good cylinder compression too!!! My friend says the spinner is worth $20 alone!! Not bad for $2 :D:D Capt,n
