Air Eengine
 

Hello every one!

O.K. here is what I would like to know.

I have a old O.S. .15 (think like from the 80's), and I was wondering if it would be possible to convert it to run on air? I mean I have seen Air engines, and they look the same, but I am fairly sure the insides are way different.

Probably if you seal off the intake transfer ports and apply compressed air to the glow plug hole then give it a spin past T.D.C.

On the small CO2 engines the air source has a very small valve with an exposed tip. The pistion hits the valve and opens it. This lets the air in and pushes the piston down. The size and placement is VERY important. You have to time the air you can't just hook up air to the head and make it run. You can use an impact valve or a mechincal one, like a rotary or slide valve. Study some steam engines.
Also lube may be a problem for longer runs
