28 degree magnet placement?
 

Usually when I mounft a magnet in a hub,I just mark thehubat the center of the hall sensor on the hub at 28 degrees before top dead center and drill my magnet hole on that spot. I've read that hall sensors fire AFTER the magnet passes the sensor. So,should I center the hall sensor on the hub at 28 degrees and then mark my magnet just beside the hall sensor? This would make the spark fire at exactly 28 degree if it fires as the magnet passes the sensor.....meaning the magnet center would be a few degrees MORE then 28 degrees?

I'm using an xyz ignition on a poulan 46.

That's correct but leave yourself some fine adjustment room

you all might find this hard to belive but i got nothing to say on this subject. Im pretty much done with the forum altogether lol.

If you are going to set the timing that way make sure you can adjust SOMETHING about 10 degrees so you can get it exactly right later on.
There are variables in magnets, sensors and air gap that all effect timing.

If the engine can use a clamp on sensor mount as sold by CH Ignitions for the engines it will fit, the adjustment factor is easy.  If your engine can't use the clamp on style sensor, it is easier to mount the sensor in a fixed position, and use a rotating collar with your magnet in it, mounted to your prop hub.  The collar is fixed once adjusted with a set screw(s).
