Ok, I see a couple of nice engines.. but how to remove the flywheel??

Hello,
First remove the trimmer drive shaft adapter nut by turning it counter clockwise with the flywheel clamped in a vise or otherwise restraned. Then use a gear puller or a large flate tipped screw driver placed between the cooling flange and the wheel. Pry a little on one side, then rotate the wheel 180 dgrees and pry again. Repeat this until the wheel is free. Do a search for homelite conversion on RCU or in Google.

Dave, got it off.. now am installing the CH ignition..

Couple of questions.. I have the short adapter for the Homelight 25.. the adapter is 1 1/2" long and the threads inside are 1".

The crankshaft on the 25 is 1 1/2" from the bearing to the end of the shaft.. and the threads are 3/4"..

If I install the adapter there would be no threads to bolt on the prop...

Do I cut off some of the crankshaft ??? or get another adapter from CH ignitions...

Hi,
It sounds like you got the wrong adapter. Usually the body of the prop hub has 5/16x24 thread al the wat through. The shaft screws in the engine end and the prop bolt and washer screw in the other end. The tapered keyed section either holds a flywheel or a magnet timing hub. The Hall sensors that I have seen on Homey's have been retained by a small hose clamp. You should giv Bill at CH a call. I'm sure that He can fix you up.

do you have a short or long crank shaft. If it is the long you will need an adapter that is not threaded at all .

DID YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS???? Especially the paragraph that says that there different length prop shafts and that you should cut the crankshaft so that it goes in the hub half way and the stud the other half.
