What size of starter is good for starting a Ryobi 31cc gas engine ?

What size Electric Starter
 

I just use the cheapest Hobbico starter with the little battery in the starter box...

I also have the bigger Hobbico W/a garden tractor battery.

The bigger starter will flip it from a standing start.

With the little Hobbico starter, you have to turn the starter on and then stick it to the spinner nut.

A Sullivan Dynatron with 24 volts will certainly give it a whirl.

Give a Magnum gear drive a thought..(if you can find them)
Mine will spin a G45 with a 12 volt gellcell

Just thought I'd share what I use. It'll turn over all of my gas conversions up to 48cc but still has the rpm to start glows as well. My next step is two 7-cell car batteries for 16.8volts and cordless.

I got the pulleys, belt, and bearings from a bearing supply house. They were for a geared-down Ryobi project that went south(plane too heavy). So I cut apart the drive assembly and built this starter. This is the second starter of this variety. I burnt up the first direct drive one on the Ryobi so I realized I needed a reduction. Works very well.

An idea, cordless drill 12 volts ( or more volts)
Other person here use it, and other person in RCU sell adaptors for drills, dont remember where.

If you are going to purchase a new starter then I would recomend the Dynatron. The smaller starters will start the 31cc but if you go any bigger they will not turn them over. The Dynatron is not that expensive and you can run it on 12 volst for the 31cc and if you go bigger you can run it on 24 volts. I have one for my 45 cc Homelite and it works great.
