I'll make a new HV-board, the old schematic needs to much calculation.
If some one choose a other Voltage, they need also other components.
For now you can use all the HV-boards we have made with the flyback transformer.

Hello iura..
The project hasn't been released to download yet. There will be a new timer board to build, and it can be used with the CDI-powerboard-4 from Rob's old CDI site. The software also hasn't been released yet.. still in testing mode.
Hopefully it will all be released soon.
There will be a new HV board too when that is finished. Check back for more details!

We don't given passwords yet, the project isn't finish.
I hope within 1 or 2 weeks we can show everyone the website without passwords.

New software available on the website.
Maybe there is some progress with the 400 Volt board, I just received mail my order was shipped [8D]

BTW, no comment from the testers yet......no one test ?

Very nice project - indeed

what do you think about maximum cycles per second ?

i'm just building a V10 F1 engine at 100ccm and planing to use CDI instead of glow plugs ...
but its a long project

without your D.I.Y. CDI its nearly priceless

This pic don't have the memory to make all the options we have in mind, maybe within the next project.
The users can offer some money for the option they want to have.
They vote, make a payment and we try to make this option.

Ideas about HV-boards:
1.The good way is a flyback converter at a 300v output around 555 timer (or something like this).
2.The best way the same flyback converter, tacking generation not from 555 timer but from PIC.Maybe wrong?

Door is open, you still need usename and password.
You can get it if you send me a e-mail.

RE: Complete new CDI - website open

Rob.. this is getting confusing now.. I etched 2 boards..one of the first ones you posted the layouts for..neither match the parts layout or schematic for that board. I threw both of them away..etched two more of the next ones and they don't match the layouts either.. Parts placement is wrong for both. I can't seem to put a parts placement , board layout, and schematic together that matches. All have either too many parts for the pads drilled or are in the totally wrong place. One is backwards from the layout, and the other one has changes from the placement to the bottom of the board. Neither one matched either picture of a completed board.
Is there a third board I didn't get??

John

RE: Complete new CDI - website open

If you are using the first layout, there is no switched output (positive or negative puls) on the board.
There is a resistor less on the old board, the one who keep the program jumper input high.
And last but not least, the is one capicitor more on the board to kill some noise.

You only need to place the resistor (10k) on the backside of the old board.
The program pin (18) must to be high if you don't have connect the RS232.

Take our timingboard and connect it to the sensor input of this CDI

As far I know there is no advange into this modules.

RE: Complete new CDI - website open

Hi Charlie..
What combination of versions and boards are you using to get this to work? So far, I downloaded 3 versions of the timerboard and can't match a schematic or parts placement to them. I have 3 different timer boards etched and am wondering which one to waste the parts on. I think we should group the correct schematic, board layout and parts placement with it's match. Is R7a actually a jumper if not using the IGBT output? Is R-9 actually not on the timerboard but on the HV board input line for the MC34063 chip? Seems that way to me... Let me know.
I am about ready to buy an RC-Excel ignition if this doesn't work. I have accumulated about $75 in parts to build these boards..just doesn't seem justified for some reason does it? If I could match the three items together so I know what I am building I'd be fine. I am very frustrated on this project. I built the RS232 board, hooked it up and it immediatley fried the chip...along with the com-port on my computer. It's not going well this time around.
Hopefully, I'll have it all sorted by the end of this weekend!
