My brother has had a few rough landings and then landing skid glue sessions, enough that he up graded to the aluminum skid. The heli flew fine befor but now it hardly will get off the ground with its new skids on. Its not that batteries as I have tried them on my HB and they are fine. I have read many post but no one seems to have run into this problem with the upgrade.. Any ideas? Also is there better than stock motor you can run in the HB MK3 with the stock 4 in 1? Thanks for any and all help

That was my thought but then why sell them for this heli if it cant use them. Also I see lots of other people posting about using them with no trouble other than mounting them. Also the weight isnt that much more than stock

Might be a radio interference problem brought on with the addition of the aluminum skids (if you still have the Rx ant. wrapped around the new skids). Try re-routing the Rx ant. and, if worse comes to worse, temporarily go back to the original skids.
Also make sure that you did not make any other changes or adjustments while installing the skids. I made the mistake of changing the pitch control rod lengths while replacing a bent spindle on my Blade CP. I then, of course, forgot about the control "adjustment" and could not figure out why my CP would not fly right after the spindle R+R. I fought with this for a day or so until I realized what I had done. The funny thing is that I know better then to make more then one change at a time. I also forgot to write down what I had changed.
Good luck and good flying!

Sounds strange that the new skids can be that heavy so that your heli cannot lift off anymore...
Hmmm, I have also ordered the new skids (those from FlyingSport), haven't installed them yet - but they don't seem much heavier than the old ones with the addition of training gear.

if you're trying to fly with the upgraded skids (super skids add about 30g), and training gear (that add's about 20g), you're looking at something like 17% weight increase which is alot for these little heli's. You might try getting one step up on the pinion (ie if you have a 9t get a 10t), or there is the slow-maxx motor that is a drop in replacement pretty much (I think you have to solder a new wire lead on it), or you could look at brushless setups to give you that extra head speed. The other thing you can do is put some packing tape or something on the trailing edge of the blades to give it more lift. This is a high alt trick, you just have to watch for the motor over heating
