Default Dynam Tx and receiver question??

I have a 4Ch hughes 300 with a dynam tx and receiver. When I pull up the left stick mid-way which is supposed to be the throttle stick, the heli does nto lift off until I pull the throttle stick sideways to the left. Is this normal? I suspecting a wrong setup on the way the controls are plugged on the receiver. Please help. thanks

I'm assuming your heli is a Fixed Pitch one, but anyway you want your ESC plugged into channel 3 on the receiver.
