Default Upping the controls?

Now that I am able to hover my BeltCP, I am starting to notice that the right-stick control surfaces (aileron and elevator) seem to be quite weak. By this I mean that I really have to yank the stick all most all the way over when I want to do a quick dart to the right/left/forward/back. I'm able to correct drifting with no problem...but just the overall control seems pretty weak. I can't imagine doing some of the maneuvers that I see pilots doing online with their stock BeltCP with how weak my controls are now. It makes the heli seem very sluggish and not very aerobatic at all. Dare I ask...do the servos throw further when in idle up? Is this just an issue with the stock servos not throwing very far?

I've come from 5+ years of sport airplane flying, where all the controls are uber sensitive, and you can do a snap-roll in 1/4 second, so maybe I'm just too used to that...

Just thought I'd see what others thought.

Once it's time for that kind of stuff, you will probably have upgraded the necessary parts.

The stock servos are adequate for flying, but not for aerobatics. Stronger, faster servos would serve the BeltCP well. A computer TX with adjustable rates and throws will also help get you there. The stock tx is really designed for beginners who shouldn't be trying that stuff anyway.

This might seem kind of ovious, with the motor wires unplugged, have you checked the amount of servo travel in each direction? The servos will throw further in Idle Up. Again, you can play with the Idle and Pitch with the motor unplugged.

watching the servos - yeah they throw the same in idle up mode. I think I might just switch to Futaba servos that are stronger and have longer horns for greater throw. But for now I'm just happy as can be. 4th flight today, and I can hover a few feet off the ground for minutes at a time with good control. The BeltCP seems to be a GREAT beginner heli.

I've always pushed the Belt CP as one of the best values for a 450 size beginner heli... but nooooo some ppl just HAVE to go out and spend $470 on a blade cp with the fantsy smantsy radio....

anyway.... glad you're enjoying the heli, think about using hitec 56hb servos as well as the futaba (3114?), I've got the 56's in my carbon fiber belt cp and they work great.

I was in a LHS today that I've never been in before, I was snooping around the heli section and the clerk says, "if you're looking for a blade 400 we're out of them, we just can't keep them in stock", I said hmmm. I wonder why.

bah.. marketing... I've got to say they've done a great job on their marketing. almost $300 for the cp pro when it still has a tail motor? ridiculous.

I'm getting mad sitting here just thinking of how eflite conned me out of my money (blade cp), pos.

That's it... I can't think of it anymore.... getting too mad....[:@][:@]

So the oilers won tonight...

Also interesting to note that I've been buying Futaba 6ch 2.4gHz receivers online for $89.95 and that's the best price I could find them for, the LHS had them for $74.00 and that was just regular price, not on sale or anything.
