Wondering if someone can splain me whats going on. I might be missing something
I have a HBFP with training gear on it and when igo out to practice i cant get the skids more than about 5 inches off the ground. Battery has a full charge.
no wind, sunny out, Esky TX that came with HBFP
Is the training gear that heavy that its keeping it grounded? (carbon rods and foam balls)

If you have access to a volt meter, check the battery voltage after a full charge.
Otherwise, if you don't have Super Skids on it plus the training gear weight, then it sounds like drag on the main motor or a bad motor. Speed controller is my last guess.

Crud, I forgot to say I had Super skids on it and carbon boom. And here I was thinking I was giving all the info.
I still would assume ( im a newbie) that it could lift the skids, training gear and a toy if i wanted to fly by and pick it up. Maybe its not as strong as I thought.

I have the Super Skids and boom kit on mine. I know that it makes the motor work a little harder (doesn't seem to hurt it any) and getting a semi- hover at any height isn't a problem for me but if I make any sort of course correction the weight makes me lose a little altitude if I don't throttle up a little. It also accentuates the pendulum effect and I need to anticipate the natural swing to counter it. All that extra weight you have may also be making your main blades flex upwards too much in flight so they dump a lot of their air. The HB isn't designed to carry much of a load!

I have had the superskids for 6 months on my HBFP. I run 2cell 900mah Lipo with no problems at all. Flies for a good 10+ minutes before battery voltage sags and has trouble accending. Flies all over the place. I'd suspect your battery first. How's your blade tracking? Besides vibrating, out of track blades affects lift more than you would think. Are your flybar paddles level? Just trying to come up with something here.... Throttle trim all the way down? Don't know if that would affect the throttle range, but .... worth mentioning? Motor/gear mesh too tight? Weak motor? ... I have over 90 flights on my motors and still going strong, but maybe I'm due for a replacement....

well looks like I might have made a newbie mistake and will know more after I try and fly today. I grabbed the 7.4 v lipr from my Lama V3 and was using that. I see that the battery that came with my HBFP is an 8.4V 650mAH Ni-MH. I guess I assumed that any battery would work.
Ill fly later today and report back. I bet Ill have god results.

Yes I'll bet that was your problem! [:@] Easy mistake to make for a newbee. The electrics are very sensitive to changes in voltage. When you get about halfway through a battery pack and the voltage has started to drop, if you crank on the throttle the gyro will sometimes get out of sync for a bit (you'll see the gyro light turn red) till the electrical load stabilizes and the signal smooths out (gyro green again).
