Default A bone to pick with those Set Locking Screws

You know, very frustrating the black locking screws...

One should be warned regards just how fraught working with them can be...

Not locked tight enough and the slip.... Locked too tight and them strip...

Two of said screws have already set me back weeks.

They are EVIL !!!!!

lol..i know the feeling..i experienced this many years ago..until i got accustomed to going to a value hardware store and purchasing set screws with tiny points on them so they dont slip..a good hardware store will have hundrededs of different set screws..you should try and go to a local hardware store and purchase some with the little points on them ..thats where i get all my set screws and miscellanius hard ware,,and it will be cheaqper than any hobby store as well..any model hobby has little screws and parts that you can purchase at different stores..the hobby stores mark up these tiny little pieces ..thats how they make there money..yoiu should try and get youre own little screws..and they will be of better qualaty..

you can get quality set screws from a specialty place that sells nothing but nuts and bolts
or an aircraft supply store that carries them..i got some and they were even stainless steel
and much harder than regular steel types.

these places normally have much better quality hardware than regular stores

im almost sure there is such a store where you are!!

also possible you have some wear on you hex tool or its too soft china made??
don't forget use quality hex tools..buy the best money can buy cheap ones are not worth your time!!

or use TORX[Tm] head screws again get them at the better places.

Thanks guys. Will check with ACE hardware this weekend as I'm far removed from more specialized shops that can accomodate the request.

Yes, some of the parts I received though mailorder appear to be of the stainless steel type.

Will also check for higher quality hex tools too.

Meanwhile, enjoy my last iteration of the hell bound set screw (attached image)!

This is a great hobby.
We have to learn about tools, fastners, electronics, battery technoligy, areodynamics and many more items and disiplines that many of us are not normally subjected to in daily life.
This is what keeps it interesting and fun.
Love it.

Thank all for your input

Tried my local hardware store and their set screws aren't small enough.

Anwhere on-line you can recommend?

And can you elaborate on 'tiny set points' with respect to a TORX head? Which is better, easier to find...
