Good to be back...My Crumcast was farged for almost 3 days!

I was using the angled battery tray( I made it from a cut pvc clamp) until I installed the new CNC head. To achieve perfect CG with this new head and angled tray, my 1350mah'r was slid up to close to the motor....I had to switch back to the old-style, just could not get the correct CG for the life of me...Now I just move the different weights of batteries for/aft for CG.

Peace,

Z

I had made one out of aluminum but can't use it with my fuselage (when I finally put it on).

blk - Great.. hope to hear how the fibre one works out for you... where did you get it any what you pay for the whole rig?

I'm still hoping Xtreme will release their frame stiffener and angled bat tray SOON....

Hey Zim... glad to have you back posting again... with that PVC clamp I'm betting it was just to heavy yes?? what about a lighter pvc.. thinner???

Druss where or from what did you get the aluminum from?? I'm trying to make one from ShapeLoc. Its really very kewl stuff and I can make lots of parts with it. I tried to make a tray and frame stiffener with it but have to go back to the drawing board. Its light and certainly strong enough to do the job but its a matter of forming and shaping it right.

If I can't shape one to my satisfaction then I'll buy a tray for sure...

happy fly or crashing whichever comes first

I just bought a sheet of aluminum from the lhs and cut a 1.5" strip about 4" long off it. I then bent it and attached it.... I think i have a pic around somewhere.

Ok... Well maybe what I can do is scoot over to my neighbours tin shed there and just remove a lil bit of tin... I'm sure I can make it so they don't notice it for a while... heh heh heh

It is actually very light, just a thin piece of unbreakable(?) plastic. Since the picture, i had trimmed those funny rib-like thingys off the bottom of the tray. The picture was taken before completion out of pure excitement. I think with the new head being a bit heavier, the weight needed to be moved back on the heli to make up for the difference. I believe with the Xtreme upgrade, the battery tray is at more of a slant/angle than mine and moving the battery back/up would be possible for CG. Mine was mounted much lower than the xtreme would be so I ran into the motor before CG was obtained. Xtreme tray should clear the top(I hope).

I am never-the-less getting excited about all the new products that are coming out to make my little King stronger and (uh hum) more costly!! Hehehe i am so glad that I like to fiddle, fix and mod....Otherwise, I prolly would have kicked the heli hobby right out the door. If you do not like any of those pre-mentioned tasks, this is not the hobby for you. I would try basket-weaving or if you are a diver, underwater basket weaving!

Peace!

I have a few things I'm going to try yet. I tried making one from nylon yesterday and it went well but definately not satisfied with it so I'll keep making one until I get it right. Or until Xtreme releases theirs and then I'll just buy one. Anything to make my bird happy. I feed mine money which is like most heli owners..

I'm almost thinking of a new frame anyway cause I want to stick a tri blade tail assembly on it. Oh and I just got my Xtreme nav/battery alarm lites yesterday. The lites are quite bright but they are tiny and are only bright when looking directly at them. The pics on MM don't give you any idea of scale... and they are tiny. But we'll see how they work with the scale cabin I have.

BTW I am a diver and the classes I liked most were my underwater cooking classes. I also had an opportunity to do some instructing in underwater painting with water colors too. But now with the helis I also don't have time for any of these old past-times. But underwater basket weaving would be a strong consideration... hhmmmmm so much to do and so little time... lol

I have been talking with Kim at MM because I bought some of the blades that are on recall.....I asked about the angled battery mount and they said it was about 10 days before it was in stock...

I didn't know you asked before I sent my question to her... they should just post an expected date of arrival.

Super Skids was working on one that looked pretty nice, I wonder what happened? Maybe there is a CG issue.
