Default Help

Hi, I am about to order an Esky Honey Bee King 2 and I have heard that the stock motor is horrible. If I buy this motor, http://www.xheli.com/ek5-0004.html, and this ESC, http://www.xheli.com/25aescusefor.html, would it work with everythign else stock?

Also I am new to heli's and I was wondering how difficult it is to set up these two parts on the helicopter, ex. taking off previous motor and ESC and putting on the new one?

Thanks!

Hi The url didn't show a motor at all. BUT, what you can do is there are plaenty on fleabay, ESC-motor combos. Often very cheap to. Just so long as you get at the min 25A ESC ( I run a 30A) and a 3800 - 3900KV motor. Motors smaller are a little under powered and anything bigger may get your head speeds to high.

Hope this helps

happy fly'n.... soon

I have run a RC exceed ESC with a 3900 motor and I notice it runs a LOT hotter then any other ESC I have used so I would not really recommend it at this point. It may have been that one ESC but a cheapo Dynam ran a lot cooler. Only real advantage to the RC Exceed ESC was it was very progammable compared to most others.
Do not waste your money on a ANY ESky ESC less your a practing fireman as theyhave some really bad habits like quitting in flight and burning up (bring marshmellows) REAL fires not just gets hot and dont work kind. We have had many posts about Esky ESC and also the following wimpy 3100 motor.
AS for that motor. forget it its underpowered to start with, I for one had one and ran it with a 9t pinon and after about 10 flights I sent it back and upgraded to a 3900 and never looked back. The 3100 has had issues with power and even working corretly with any Esky ESC and its about the same price as the 3900 (also exactly the same size weight etc)
In short go with a 3900 as it gives you plenty of power with a 10t pinion and requires no mods to install (drop it in and go fly).
for a really good pinion go to http://www.helidirect.com/index.php?cPath=78_512 look for the hr1061 its made of steel and uses a setscrew to mount it (not a press on) easier to mount and will last a long time.

yes that is for a 3.17 shaft. Is that what you have for a shaft dia? Only reason I ask is the esky motors are all 2.13mm

I have an Esky 3800 2.13 and a Danlion 3200 3.17. Just wanted to make sure it would be compatible. Want to get one for each motor.
