Default Head dampers

I need harder head dampers for the belt cp. What would work for this. I was thinking the dampers from a trex 450 or something like that.

Nope totally diff in size.
The Trex dampeners come actually are the same size as a #60 faucet 0 ring and that is far to big for the feathering shaft due to the way the way that a Trex puts tension on the 0 ring and cinches it around the shaft. Both the king and the Trex use the same size shaft it but the 0 rings are tensioned diff. If you attempt to use the Trex size you will have tracking problems and you will also find that the heli kinda does what it feels like doing as there is a lot of play in the entire blade holder assy.
I have tried several of the diff compostion 0 rings available for the Trex and it has always been the same.
Eskys are "Special" they seem to make there own 0 rings.

Thanks for the replies. Are there any other dampers that wouldnt require mods to make them right?

Yes, the MX400 rings are the exact same rings as the Esky rings. Part Eflite # EFLH1158 (even bagged the same as the old Esky "0" rings) and it lists for about 2$ for 4 "0" rings. My LHS interchanges a lot of parts between the two Helis and that happens to be one of them.
The Mike Trueblood dampeners (2 kinds) have been posted as not working well in the past as cutting that materal is very difficult to impossible to get it exactly in half and perfectly straight and that's what it takes to get the same tension behind both blade grips so they are exactly the same and that is very important. If the dampeners are cut even a hair off it is like dealing with a slightly bent feathering shaft or a weak or damaged dampener (which were trying to replace to start with) and you could have tracking problems that come and go at diff speeds and loads on the blades. Still have the problem with them not cinching down on the Esky feathering shaft properly due to differance in the way they are tensioned. Been there already with those dampeners, money wasted when I could get the stock ones for less, there is also a post on the problems someone encountered when attempting to cut and use them a long time ago. Same with using hard teflon washers instead of the stock "0" rings and also the Traxxas 2362 shock rebuild kit dampers which turned out to be much too soft, tried that one it was almost worth a picture when the blades started slowly sagging in slow motion as you watched... and when you ran it up the disc looked as if it had a funnel shape from the side as they were about 1 1/2inch higher at the tips at half stick (also damaged the bearings in the cnc blade holders and the cnc blade holders themselves from that little experiment).[]

Are these dampers harder than the stock E-sky?

Nothing to measure them with as far as more resilient but they feel much firmer then the stock 0 rings

Trueblood dampers

I just got it ystd and cut it into half and using it right now. I must say my belt-cp flys much more responsive. Blade tracking no problem. Cyclic response is terrific!!! I don't know in past how someone cut it, but I didn't get any problem after doing. Just take a scissors & a steady hand to get the job done. Nice even half. If you put it under a microscope then of course it is not even, but like I said. my belt-cp flys good and it worked.

I have some of the blue ones and I was thinking of putting them on a feathering shaft between two washers chuck it in the drill press and rotate it by hand, cut them with a razor blade. Actually I think you could eyeball it, then use some thin nylon washers so it is pressed evenly when its on the shaft in place of the paper thin metal shims that can distort.
Did you cut red ones or blue ones?
Blue ones were much harder material is why I am asking.
If they last longer then the stock ones it may be worth the money to buy and cut as it brings the price down per set.

I have the black TRex V1 ones. Work REALLY good, even though I somewhat botched the cut job. Make sure you inspect them from time to time, tho'... I found one pair of mine had shredded a little bit. If you find that the tracking one day is way off, they probably need replacing.

I've also heard of people doubling up on the stock esky ones. Dont know if it works as well as the TRex ones, tho.

Funny you mentioned doubling up on them as I just did that last night. The ones I doubled up on were not new but they were not shreded or appeared worn. It seems I couldn't get the bolts tight enough to take the spongey feeling out of the blades. they tend to flex upwards at about half throttle and don't sit stright across when at rest the blade holders droop I think. Maybe the original rubber is too soft to support the extra weight of the Xtreme blades. Need to get some new stock ones and try it again.
My LHS doesnt carry the black ones, only the dark blue and red ones and I bought the last of the blue ones the other week. One of the guys in the shop has a king and uses teflon washers in it that he trimed down, but said he has problems with vibration now and thinks it may be from the hard washers in the head. Hasn't flown it yet
