ZING!!!!!!.......threadlock needed!
 

So, I am hovering myHBK2 in the driveway...nice and steady,really enjoying myself.
When, all of a sudden, I hear a ZING go by my right ear...kinda like a bullet richochet....only smaller.
I dismiss it as a mosquito or some other bug trying to distract me so I will crash. I keep hovering for about 2 more minutes ,then safely land.
After the rotors stop spinning, I notice something is not quite right......parts are hangin abnormally.
Turns out, the tiny screw that holds a little spindle on had worked loose.......thought I had threadlocked everything,guess I missed that one.
Anyways,see the attached pic for location of said screw.Amazing how it id NOT crash with this part hanging freely....flew just fine in fact!

Wow, consider yourself lucky. Lucky that your heli didn't crash, and that that part didnt hit you.

I wear glasses, so my eyes probably would have been semi protected........cant believe I did not crash,very lucky.

can you loctite screws that go in plastic?

Yes, BUT, use the right stuff or you'll be sorry. There are different strengths of Loctite. You'd want the stuff that isn't considered "permanent". There is a thread locker that can break free when you need it to. The permanent stuff requires a heat gun to soften it enough to get the screw back out and I think that would ruin plastic parts. Most big box stores have it in their paint aisle with other adhesives.;)

i was just wondering because in my manual for belt cp, for the tail boom it says to lock the screws and it all plastic. so is that talking about loc *** thats for plastic then?

To lock screws into plastic simply apply a little CA in the hole where the screw goes. Run the screw in and out of the hole first to create threads. Loctite is not compatible with plastic (at least regular blue loctite isn't), so you can't use it to threadlock screws in plastic parts. HTH

Briz i had a very similiar problem. flying around then all of the sudden the blades just decided to do what ever it felt like. After i landed i noticed this screw was missing (the one in the pic) This is off of the king bee V2 CNC and now i cant figure out which screw to get to replace it? anyone have any thoughts?? i bought some 2-56 but they were to big! i have looking around but no one gives any specs on screws. can someone point me in the right direction?? THANKS!!

as stated you can't use loctite (the brand or any thread locker meant for metal to metal) in plastic, it will start to eat the plastic and then you'll see some screws start zinging for sure. ca is the better bet but with the screws that go into plastic you usually don't need anything.

All the screws on the Heli are Metric! Worse is they are Chinese Metric which is not the same as any other metric (Chinese don't abide by world metric standard).
That little screw you lost is a pain to find without buying a new head and its crucal to setting pitch when its loose. Suggest you get yourself a 2-56 tap and a large assortment of screws and bolts as your going to find that most of the screws and bolts in the cnc head are going to work loose, loctite or not as the taped holes are ALL over sized, and combined with the poor quality alumn that was used ...

I believe that screw can be replaced with one that holds a ball link. Notice that it is a flat head with a angled base to it and it, check out a set of ball links for a CP they include the screws with the balls and although you only need one screw now you will want the balls later for linkage upgrades.
