Combat Fly-In "15-size" and Open Class (June 22, 2003 @12 Noon)
Clarksburg Model Aviation Club -- AMA #1193
Location Instructions:

Join us in Clarksburg, West Virginia for our second Combat Fly-In. This is for the rank amateurs, not the professionals (It would be nice if we had a few professionals show up and give us a demonstration.) It is a non-sanctioned event and with the exception of AMA's safety guidelines, follow its on rules.
Spectators are also welcomed and open flying will be available between combat heats for those pilots that do not want to compete.
We use inexpensive party streamers attached to the airplane with kite string. String is ~15' long and the streamer is ~15' long. If it conforms to the above, bring your own if you prefer.
Venue 1: (15-size combat) Most of us fly J&C Hobbies Fun Bats, which are designed for 15-size 2-stroke engines. At $32.00, it is a very inexpensive airplane that can also be used for sport flying if you add a throttle channel. Any airplane designed for a 2-stroke 15 is acceptable.
Venue 2: OPEN. Any airplane, any size. A few of us are planning on using our Pizza Box fliers here.
Rules: Real Simple! Heats are timed for 5 minutes of engagement, with a 1 minute engine start and trim adjustment period. If you survive the 5 minutes then you are awarded 1 point. If you cut someone's streamer you are awarded 1 point for each confirmed cut. If you cut someone's string and release his entire streamer you are awarded 2 points. If you have a mid-air and your opponent does not survive, and you do, you are awarded 2 points. You never loose points unless you grossly violate safety rules (subjective and Safety Marshall has the last word.) and/or leave engagement too early. Points are additive from successive heats and prises (TBD) are awarded for places.
