Default MVVS 40 conversion

Rain and windy in florida no flying today Decided to bench the MVVS 40 with davis head
I only have maybe 20 minutes on it as glo ( not enough) and decided to try the diesel head anyhow put on the JE JN
(6mm bore carb)
davis abc mix stock carb zinger 11x7 first tank 9500-9600 second 9800-9900 this should
easily turn up an other 1000 but not run in yet , much noise its also Sunday afternoon did not want to light off the neighbors I do have the quieter muffler MVVS cat#3245A its about twice
the size of the standard. will change to that to quiet things down a little
Question put on an other hour on glow?? or just run it in on diesel (that may take forever)
It responds well idle not too swift but have not adjusted low end needle and the classic reason
for it not broken in yet opinions please ,Final home Koyosho 40 size spitfire

Pe, told me my .61 could be considered broken in when it wouild hold max rpm for longer than 30 seconds, it took three 16oz tanks of 5% nitro fuel to get to that point now it will hold a steady 9,700 with the APC 14x6 and 8,460 with a 12x8 Graupner three blade. The Diesel head is on but not run yet. I'm going to try and get the 7mm MVVS carb to run as a Diesel. The last two 16oz tanks were run at 6,000 rpm and above with several one minute runs at full throttle. The front bearing drips about one drop per minute at full throttle none at any other setting.

Diesel Dan, That sounds a little light on the RPM. I have the MVVS 40 blackhead with a Davis head but haven't had much tach time on it. The one time that it was tached it was at almost 11k Funny I don't remember Bob making too many of those heads as there wasn't a lot of call for MVVS anything at the time. That said I did run the K&B 40 twist head with the long pipe supplied with davis head on of all things a Lanier fun fly arf. I sent Bob the vidio of it running and particularly the RPM with an 11/7 which was 13.100. Even he was impressed by that number. It made that heavy Lanier fly like a scalded cat.
Point that I'm trying to make is that the MVVS is no slouch in the power department and I think that you have not reached the motors full potential. I'd run it some more and take my time with it. They have a fairly good pinch at TDC and it would benefit from running as a glow for awhile.

Dennis guess will pull the head and reglo for a few tanks and then re-install still not bad
numbers but the MVVS 40 is a very strong engine, and surely I will get to your numbers ran limited time glow in the spring my neighbors were having a pool party hence the short run on glow , your numbers as good as my irvine 46 conversion<><>on a 40

My MVVS .40 glow will turn a 10/6 APC at around 15,000 RPM with an old ASP muffler on it. It's one of the older ones about 15 years old. with a plain machined head and a perry carb.
