howdy bigchap
A mate at school had one of the factory PAW 149 glow engines that were a few available in the early 80's, I think the 149, 249 and 19 were all available as glows. His was the only glow PAW that I saw and I don't think they were on the market that long, so they are probably "worth" a small fortune now...
There are probably enough PAW models past and present to justify a PAW museam in Macclesfield!
cheers

thanks for that,i had never seen one before and other people i asked said that it must have been a conversion but you have confirmed what i half suspected as it seems too integrated to be an off the shelf conversion,as to it being worth a small fortune do you think i can get £100,000 for it to enable me to get the bentley coupe i hanker after?

you're welcome!
and there's a Dinky Bentley Coupe for sale on a well known online auction site, current bid is £40.57
Have you tried running the 249? the glow 1.49 I saw running was a bit lacking in oomph, rice pudding skins in the area certainly weren't quaking in its presence… In fact the model it flew in subsequently had a diesel 149 on board, I think it actually climbed then! I am curious at to whether the conversion to glows that PAW did just used a different head, maybe this explains the short time they were on the market. I’ve got a glow head for an Amco 3.5, apparently it was a good way of getting a bit more life out of a worn out diesel.
cheers

the contra piston has obviously been omitted and in it's place is a top hat shaped collar sealed to the cylinder by 2 o-rings,this collar is tapped for the glow plug,it is held in place by the clamping action of the head which has a hole approx. 1/2" diameter in it for plug access,i would estimate power to be in the region of 20 wasp *****!
