Default fuel tank

Is running to big of a fuel tank bad for a Diesel? I will using a Davis Diesel head on a K & B .65 sportster. When I talked to Jim Davis last week, he was saying so many things about diesels, plumbing, running, tuning, theory etc... I kind of lost everything in the haze. That guy knows his product. He said an 8 oz tank or even a 6 oz, but I never really asked why. Any ideas or suggestions?

The reason is fuel economy the diesel will run almost twice as long as a glow on the same size tank. Mr davis states this is quite an advantage why run a 12 or 14 oz tank plus the weight of the extra fuel for the same flight time. Thus a smaller tank will do fine.
One of my incidents on this was having a 4oz tank in my little vmar cub with a tt10 davis conversion. after about 15 minutes I decided to land and pulled back the throttle it only went to a very fast idle, the plane slowed down but no way was it slow enough to land, tried
the throttle cut switch, no good , (the throttle control rod had slipped on the servo arm) so we were reduced to a nice big circle I passed
the radio off to one of the guys and this continued for at least an other 20 minutes before it ran out of fuel and it was dead-sticked in

So other than reduced weight, there is no problems with fuel draw and any other thing that would affect the operation of the motor?

Bigger tank=more running time.. Smaller tank saving weight and run same time as a glow engine with double size tank.

Nothing with affect the operation of the motor...
