Ok guys the Sharma came today an 09. 15 combat (tuned) a 15 with a C/L carb and a 19 and Stewart they are very PAW ish in looks
the r/c carbs have a black plastic body ala some perrys and brass guts and barrel. The rods compared to PAW are much beefer sort of MVVS style. Have ordered PAW collector rings. They state in their info sheet the engines have been test run , ran at 12000 and ready to go no break in required just shove in the front of the plane and go, of course will play with them on the bench they also state 27 to 30% castor in the fuel their prop recs 1.5cc 7x4 8x4 2.5 and 3.2cc 8x6. 9x4,9x6 glass filled nylon
Looks like Just Engines now really into diesels really big selection and he promises more
Looks like I will be buying assorted fuel mixes from Davis by the case
I also cannot believe I bought 4 engines at one time If and when the enya 4 strk comes out my tail will really be in a sling
can"t help it-- Martin-- should be a fun Sunday on the back porch

Martin,
They look well enough finnished -least on the outside, so hopefully on the insides too. I like the prop bolt , maybe PAW could take note!
From the prop sizes looks like they need/ like to rev a bit, be interesting to see the No's from them .

Ok last night took the 15 "combat tuned" as the box said and put on the bench with just a prime, it was 10PM was left at factory setting 9x5 rev up wood prop 2 flips OUCH chicken stick time backed off compression still kick back a couple of flips and ran on prime
it is louder than my paw without the exhaust ring ( this has none yet either) Will do the real thing about 4PM today when I get home from work it seemed to have a sharper exhaust tone almost like a glow engine. My guess this one is really going to spin timing appears a bit hot just from a few quick bursts on primes only last night will then run against the "stock 15" same props and fuel

[X(] I can see the marks of jaws from chuck from lathe at the cooling fins at photos.. Not careful mounting of parts at tool machines and keep finish and clean surface at engineparts. But important the engine works well.

Motorboy did notice the jaw marks they could have remounted and polished them out but no big deal if runs ok, There is back and forth play on the shaft junst like the PAW I got rid of it by thainning a brass washer and getting it to a mirror finish must likley wo dor the same with these to get down to about ,010 play (inch) carb body needs a little polish up so barrel smoother in moving martin

Heres the run numbers with 9 inch props and Davis Plane fuel for plain bushed engines I did bump with my electric starter simple primed the engine tuned out the compression screw and slowly turned it it as I cranked till it fired this saved a lot of time and ran wood rev up 9x5 9990
MAS black plastic props 9x5 11800 MAS black plastic 9x4 a steady 12900 it did hit 13150 but wandered steady at 12900 this was the combat tuned did not have time to do the regular 15 today still only about 25 minutes total run time so may get better the carb needs a little work to smooth up the action not a big thing and the other carbs are quite smooth and it is as loud as glow engine and will need the exhaust ring to quiet it down
the PAWs exhaust rings are on the way for all engines martin

Martin , they are pretty good figures, the 9X4 at around 13,000 is the same as an MVVS15. I wonder if it'll spin an 8X4 around 16,000 ?

Stewart will try that later today also will try the ASP/magnum/asp twin needle carb when the exhaust rings come will put on a fiting and run muffler pressure also will pick up some APC props they do a little better than the MAS I think they might be a little easier to peak out the engine the the Sharma carb as is however I still prefer over the paw one be intresting to see how close the standard 15 stacks against the combat tuned version the 09 may be the choice now for the little L19 birddog will run and see what we get wiill run the the PAW19 against the Sharma 19 too be intresting martin

I just ran apc gray plastics 8x5 14200 9x4 13200 they did not have an apc 8x4 in stock is was quite clean running not a lot of smoke
and more manageable now with a little more time on it no "wandering" did not have to mess readjusting the needle or compression
which was fine with me those apcs at that speed scare the p**s out of me. after being chewed up last year do not need an other ER visit
I was VERY careful adjusting the needle not much room between it and the prop, At this point do not see the need to cahnge to the ASP
twin needle carb. It will be intresting to see the numbers with the exhaust rings when they come. I do like the beefy rods compared to the PAWs martin

Stewart this in the COMBAT tuned 15 have not even run the 19 (normal) yet or the 09 or 15 really think the 09 is the engine for the bird dog its only 4.5 oz the OS 10 is 5,8 oz. I understand a few years ago these were a little on the crude side hersay?? or fact??
but these look pretty good still3 more to run martin

Martin,
I realise its the combat 15, I put up the PAW19 figures to show how good it is , it seems to be in the same legue as the MVVS15 which is a powerfull diesel for its size too. Looks like someone at Sharma knows what they are doing. Now youve had it running hows smooth is it? is the crank balanced ? I assume from the rod size comment youve had at least the backplate off.
Both my PAW 19 and 049 have NO crank balanceing= something I'me going to try and fix.( have grinders and not afraid to use them
)

Stewart its smooth idle at 3800-4000 so far or flat out very little vibration so I assume balanced I was messing around and shoved in the carb for the MVVS 1,5 in the sharma 09 DRAT the barrel is too short for the grub screws to grab then a brainstorm looks like you could drill a hole 2mm or so 45 degrees to the crankin the carb spigot above the center of the grub screws tap the hole and retain the carb
then back out the grubs enough to clear the bottom of the MVVS carb and use some lock tite on them otherwise big airholes both sides of carb martin
I have an extra MVVS carb for my 1.5 and air bleed on it also action much smoother on it

Sharma's engine web page:

The even so a couple of engines having that "other"ignition method.
