RE: ST 4500 on Diesel
OK, with the original ST 4500 carb I recorded 7,700 rpm tops. It will run reliably at about 6500 but fuel consumption at WOT was way up. I would estimate abut 2 oz/min.
I am going to reinstall the Menz 24-12 and test once more. Will be back shortly.

4,700 rpm with the Menz 24-12. That compares well to Mike Billington's finding when he tested the engine 20 years ago. He ran a Punctilio 24-12 at around 4900 rpm on 5% nitro. To my best knowledge, the Menz is a lot more substantial piece of lumber than the Punctilio.

RE: ST 4500 on Diesel
Sounds like it is working like it should. So I don't see any problem per se with it.
Looks like pretty good performance for it there.
One thought I had was that maybe one could lower the oil content once the engine is run in real good. SuperTigre recommended using a lot lower oil content fuel of around 10% to 12% oil (Tower suggests no less than 14%). So it had me wondering if anyone tried doing that with the diesel fuel on the big Super Tigre engines or not. Plus whether it helped them run any better or not too. ref http://www.supertigre.com/faq/product-faq.html#q23
