Default Assembly of engine onto chassis

I own a madstorm and
iam new to this.I removed my .28 engine to replace the pull start. In the instruction manual under assembly of the engine onto the chassis. There is an added note, insert a sheet of paper before instaling. ? .
I did this.correctly I belive? added note slightly vague.
Now it seems that the clutch wants to stay engaged when start it. I could really Use some advice or where to get a good chiltons type manual. Thanks! p.s. Nitro cars kick A#*!

Hopefully this link will help:

The sheet of paper is to really test the gear mesh, which is how the pinion teeth and spur gear teeth contact. You should pull the paper out and see clean teeth marks, Note this is not always really needed. The video below does not use that method.
