The new exceed models are light years better than the old ones.

.28 should be 35-40 mph range. If i was guessing

Is the speed slower because it is an offroad  truck?

I have this truck, it will do 35 to 40 mph. The .28 engine is grate the only problem iv had is the pull cord is hard to pull and i have to get an electric starter. Durability is vary vary good just don't crash into something at full speed and you wont have any problems. The best thing about this truck is the performance, it will run circles around much more expensive trucks like the Traxxas Slayer/Slash. Oh and I have never jumped it more than 5 feet high, exceed rc is not made for insane house jumping.
The gears are strong and show no were so far but the wheels are cheep thin plastic and need to be replaced.

Did you get the Exceed Madbash and how is it doing for you?
