Nemesis NXT electro by air-c-race.de
not a problem at all. See the pictures. I just made a firewall/engine mount bulkhead from a ply-carbon-sandwich...
Do you have a picture of wing thickness for us?
Also does it seem strong enough for really high speed without flutter?
Were there instructions that recommend down thrust angle for the motor mount?
Can you put in my motor mount for me before it comes from Germany
Erik
jetdriver I was thinking of getting one of these also but going Glow. let me know if you are getting one. I can help you go fast also. I know the electric would be faster than glow.
I need someone to go seriously fast or let me hold the wing in my hands and check it out.
Not sure how strong it is for real speed.
Airraptor,
I was thinking of the same setup as in my jackal. 10s, went fast.
I want one of these too, but my wife said I need another plane like I need a hole in the head. So I went and got my ear pierced today to proove a point...
I'm dumb enough to spend all of the money if I knew it was strong enough. I think the plane looks great and you don't see'em anywhere. I could see a big fat speed control sitting inside right behind that airscoop.
Help us out Spuetz. Center wing section photos? Pleeeeeze? Pics of retract holes?
Thanks,
Erik
The beotec or what ever they are retracts are expensive. I would look to put the Eflight 60-120 size electric retracts in it.
I would also like to see wing center section and build process so i could see internals.
I also was thinking of that landing gear cuz it's so easy. That's why I was looking for gear hole pics. It's also on the Jackal and works great.
I PM'ed Spuetz, I'm hoping he's going to help us spend our money.
Be aware of fact that the landing gear will not be flush with the wing. You'll need to support it in the back so the wheels will come to sit under the leading edge. In the pictures I experimented with a setup that would have the landing gear mechanics built in at an angle - but there's no room for that in the wing... Kind of annoying but thats the way it is as of now. If you wanted the gear to fully disappear in the wing, with gear doors and everything, you'd have to built your own mechanical solution....
ok, i am going fully electric!
Ralph of powercroco.de built a motor for me, based on a Scorpion 4530. Here it is. (pictures)
Specs:
HK 4530 4+5x1,6YY<o></o>
11x11 apc sport<o></o>
about 17,100 rpm (static) on 35V + 150A.
weight: about 19.5 oz...
That's over 5 kw of power!
Flown on 10s
I'll start with 6s on 12x13 to try out how it flies, then gradually increase the number of cells (an weight with that) with smaller props...
the 6s 5000 that I have already weighs 31 oz...
The motor has a 10mm (0.4 inch !) shaft, tapered down to 6mm for the prop - with fat bearings! So the usual bearing-problem of the Scorpion motors won't be an issue here
I can see you have decided ! That sounds like a very powerful setup .... with a 900 RPM more and you have your 300 Km/h !!! At least in theorie ;-)
Can't wait to have mine shipped to Casablanca..unfortunatly no news yet from Air-race.de [&:]
Attached my favorite paint scheme
Cheers

Ihad planned to finish it in early summer this year.
But then a lot of problems arose. One is the spinner - I just can't see it turning 20.000 rpm and more without destroying itself or the whole airplane for that matter. That setup with a center-bolt in a laminated spinner just isn't very trustworthy to me.
Then the landing gear. It took ages to be delivered. And now there is the problem with installation: you have to install it at an angle in order to get the wheels underneath the leading edge. Now that means that it will be sticking out in the rear seat - by some quarter inch or so. Very nasty - not my idea of a slick speed plane. Kinda threw me off...
And then there is a new kid on the block that Ihad ordered and knew would come in September. That's why I wanted to do the Nemesis first in early summer.
Now that baby needs all my attention:
When I saw that spinner, I fugured there was no way it would handle the rpm's I wanted without vibration. Being so long it would have to be PERFECTLY balanced. I would fly it with a normal length spinner then replace it for the photos with the beautiful women.
Congrats on the New kid on the block.
