figured id ask b4 i spent cash on engine. btw i no ill have to add a ton of weight to tail it its possible to use .74 w/o destroying plane.

-edit-

if i didnt love the somthin' extra somuch id use a plane better suited for the job but oh well.

I don't see a problem with putting a Fox 74 in a SE other than the added weight. You might get more results in the 3D forum, as the SE isn't a very good candidate for a fast plane with it's thick wing and large control surfaces. If you are asking if it will be fast with a Fox 74, I'd say no. The Fox 74 isn't known as a high RPM engine, it's much better suited to swinging larger props, and that, combined with the already mentioned limitations of the SE airframe, won't add up to making a fast plane.

I put a .52 Four Stroke on a Magic and that plane is for a smaller engine, but with the wing it has, it can carry it with no problem .

i have a saito .91 going into mine this winter want to hang it on the prop (14x6 ) it does tuen a 13x8 nicely on a .46 size GP CAP231EX ARF.

the somthing extra is a"funfly" type aircraft over speed the airframe and the huge control surfaces will flutter and possibly wreck the plane

was also thinking (after reading some posts on this thread and talking with some people) about the GP Patriot on a TH .75 with tuned pipe... speed estamate? plane will have retracts of course to leave those off would be a crime. from what ive read so far the TH75 is powerfull and cheap (the main reason i like it) im considering putting on a better engine later on when i have the cash to do so. also, wil lthere be enough ground clearance to turn a 2 blade also what pitch would be good? btw, scratch the SE idea, i just really love how that plane looks for some reason... really wanted to see it scream.

and last(i hope) will i need to make any structural changes, i intend to fiberglass the firewall and the front of fuse as well as fully shet wings as i do on almoast all planes since i hate the monokote dips that form between spars.

forgive the typos, i cant type and its late.

I think someone else was gonna try the TH-75 on a Patriot... Might be interesting but it will be VERY nose heavy- you will have to beef up the nose-gear and firewall then when its' all said and done I think a lighter Patriot with a Jett-50 will be faster...

You could probably try a 10x10 and have enough clearance- Sure would be neat to hear how it goes....

I can think of many other engines I would line-up in front of a Patriot though-

Keep us posted,
james

what engine would you recoomend, ive been wanting to put a jett on it but dont have cash so i was going to use the .75 till i could get a .60-.70 jett and start pooring lead in the tail. as for the firewall, i intended to fiberglass it and the forward part of the fuse unless there wwere objections to doing so. whats teh thrust to weight going to be onn a plane wit hthese specs?i kind of like how the .75 is cheap since this seams to fit my budgeeet more at the moment. but i would prefer a more powerfull engine what would fit better.still not sure about the nose gear, may have to buy a heavy duty nose retract?? not sure. anyway. how fast do you think it will go on the TH75 vs the jett50? for a little less than hallf the price id be more inclined to do the TH if the speed is close. btw i hope this is the case, itheres no foam or plastic parts is there? that just takesaway from the fun of building.
