Default Building the Stiletto 21

Last weeks I have started with building the Stiletto 21 for a Rossi 21.
Other engines to be used are O.S. max 25FX or 32SX.
Here is a picture of the wing almost finished.
If anyone is interested in a building thread
of the wing and fuselage,
please let me know.
Regards,
Look.

It's gonna take a fair amount off cutting up the fuse to make way for the pipe...

I take it this kit was intended for side exhaust engines?

Rudeboy.
You can mount the engine upside down (rear exhaust)
or on its side with a side exhaust.
Irvine sells special exhaust for mounting
a side exhaust behind the engine in the cowl.
That's a Club 20 exhaust.
The tuned pipe of the rear exhaust fits in the cowl.
Nova Rossi has a special engine header with a curve (S)
so you do not have to make a big hole in your fuselage.
I will put a picture off this header on the forum later.

Look.

Look,

What do you think of the quality of the kits?

What is the price of the kit
and have you flown it?

I have been thinking about one of their kits but would like a bit of feedback first.

Looks like you did a really nice job.

I have seen a bereta from this company. it was in nice paint. On one of the earlier pictures you can see the paint in red. There are nice effects in it. I mean that there are also different colours. The wings are nice whit abachi. So place the engine mount and the fins and rudders. And you are almost ready to install the RC.
The fuses have really nice joints and the wood is of good quality.

I am now waiting for the new ptoduct of this company. A sniper. This is a model for minifan and has a bandit shape. Really looks fast and hope it is.

greetings

Is there a visible seem in the fuse? And do you have to hand launch these? sean

Hi,
Quality is good, flying capabilities are excellent.
The seems are very good, almost unvisible.
Fuselage finished in a bright colour of your choice.
You have to handlaunch the models.
But they fly directly without problems
Most of the models are 100,00 euro.
I have designed the models by myself
and fly them for several years.
I want to make a building thread how to finish
a sheeted wing and how to build an epoxy fuselage.
I have the experience that a lot of people have
questions about this.
For the Stiletto I have made for every building step a picture.
I can explain to you every step with a picture with comments and advises.
Please tell me if you are intersted in a building thread from this kind of models.
From building to painting !!
Questions will be answered.
Regards,
Look.

OK, before you sart building a kit read the building instructions
and study the building plan.

We start with building the wing:
- Fine sand the wings (gritt 240)
- Glue the leading edge to the wing with white glue and tape it
On this wing we mounted a balsa triangle, stronger is to glue a hardwood
(spruce) triangle. After curing carefully sand the leading edge.
Do not make it sharp but a little bit round. If you make the leading edge sharp
all models fly more aggressive on height.
- When the white glue is curing you can cut the wingtips from balsa or take
a CNC part from the CNC kit.
- Glue the wingtips to the wing and tape them,
check if they are straight on your wing.

The glue has to cure, we start mounting the engine on an enginemount.
When using a CNC alu mount you will get more RPM on your engine.

- Fit the spinner 1 3/4 inch (45mm), we prefer Tru Turn.
- Cut the bulkhead or take a CNC part from the kit.
- Mount the engine mount to the bulkhead, whatch the downtrust and sidethrust.
See the building plan. In the nose of the plane both is integrated.

Some pictures of the Rossi 21 speed (2,4 HP) with a CNC alu mount.

We start with a break for questions, next time more.

At the moment I think everybody is sleeping overseas.
Guys wake up, you can learn something !!

You can make the wingtip stronger by using a sandwhich construction.
Use for the top of the wingtip thicker balsa and the bottem thinner balsa.
Glue in the middle of the tip between both balsa a layer of thin plywood (o,6mm).

For the engine bulkhead never use thin plywood !!
This will give more vibration, more vibration gives less RPM.
Less RPM results in less speed of your model !!
We use for this 8mm good quality plywood.
Use a good quality epoxy glue like UHU plus.
You can spot glue woth ZAP green.

Do not use bad quality alu or plastic spinners.
This is dangerous and gives less RPM.
We have the best resultst with the Tru Turn spinners.

You can change the tipshape.
If you do not like the rounded backend,
make it more straight like the picture.
Some people say it's better and faster.

Mounting the engine:

- Start cutting your bulkhead from plywood 8mm
or take the CNC part.
Do not forget the throttle steering ( if you use throttle) and fuelhose.
Mount the CNC engine mount on the bulkhead with good quality metal inbus 3mm.
Mount the engine on the CNC mount.
Be careful with sidethrust and downhrust.
Look for this on the building plan !!
Side and downthrust are made in the fuselage nose.

- Make a small hole (carefully). Fit the engine without carberator and mount.
Decide what to use a side or rear exhaust.
A rear engine is faster.
Put the bulkhead in the fuselage (from the wing opening).
Put the engine mount in the engine opening and mount it to the
bulkhead. Fit in the engine, mount a backplate (spinner) on the engine.
Check if the spinner backplate fits nice to the front of the fuselage.
If it does not fit well start with a new bulkhead.
If it fitts well sand the place where the bulkhead has to be glued with 80 gritt
(carefully).
Mount the spinner to the engine and fits everything again.
Make a spacer from thin plywood to put between the spinner backplate
and front of the fuselage.
The spinner backplate may not touch the fuselage front !!

If everything fits well, tape the spinner to the fuselage.
Check if the engine is straight in the fuselage and spott glue with ZAP green the
bulkhead from the wing opening.
Wait some time, glue very well the inside with UHU plus 24 hours epoxy.
Remove the engine and glue the bulhead again on the front.
The engine mounting is ready.
Now you fit in the venturi or carburator.

The elevator is made with a sandwhich construction.
Both sides balsa 2,5mm, in the middle 0,6mm plywood.
Glued with epoxy.

Start with sanding the elevator in airfoil shape like naca 0006.
Cut the height part out with a very shatp knife,
remember the inside is plywood !!

Put twice woodsealer on the balsa,
fine sand 240 gritt before, between and after.
Bring on with a very thin epoxy the glass cloth,
do not bend over but sanf of the edges later.
We use a special very thin epoxy for rotten wood.

Bring up the thin epoxy trwice or use floor lacker (polyurethane).
Sand before and between.
After it's glossy you can paint the elvator tips with an airbrush.

Hello all,

I'm flying the kits of speedmodels and the kits are superb.
Easy to build, and fast as hell....
The quality is ++++++++
I fly 4 kits of speedmodels and there will be more!!!
