Default RE: Engine for F16N

right, 91 was way too heavy for that plane. So out its come. Next dilema is what engine to put in, in its place.

I've had a few suggestions. It all comes down to price, hassle, and performance.

West Eurotech 50V1 with pipe. APC 10x8 or 9x6 P-props. (got this engine, spare)

YS45 with 10x8 P-prop (can get lightly used for £50/ $90)

OPS 61 piped and Tuned to my specs, with custom 9x10" P-prop (can get for 260Euros/$312) (+ servos and linkages may need to be changed due to the high speed the model will reach with this set up)

all except the YS will need pumps.

model weighs 6.8lbs (3085g) dry without engine.

so, what do people think i should use.

You will need a pump for the OS, the YS come with a pump.

yep, agreed. All engines apart from the YS will need a separate pump.

The OS-50SX while a great running engine is not as powerful as the YS and is NOT pumped-

Also, dont know if the CBM instructions call for this, but my Throttle servo is right in the nose, and the linkage is very long. Am considering removing the servo and linkage and mounting a micro "metal geared" servo nearer the engine, perhaps even on the mount its self. Have just got the idea from another forum

Here you go Razor. Not quite as high dollar gear as Dave. The kids need to eat.

Guys, I need pics of your tuned pipes that some of you have enclosed up in the fuz. (please)
I need to see how and where you've cut access hatches in the underside rear of the fuz, and how you've secured the pipe inside the fuz.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

(yes Helge! I've actually started to install it )
