APC 9x8 on TT-46 pro
Got a TT 46-pro on a WM Sky Raider Mach II.
I usually fly this set-up with a Graupner 11X6 and it works well but now when I'm more comfortable flying , I'd like to go a bit faster (Been out of the hobby for five years)
Would an APC 9x8 be a good prop or is the engine to weak to properly turn it?
Can anyone give a ballpark number on the speed I might get? (My friends always ask: Ohh, cool plane, looks like a real one ?!? How fast is it?)
I run 20% nitro and the engine runs very good! (I'll tach it next time)
(I figure this is the way to go because when everybody else at the field is doing acrobatics, I go 100% throttle and try to get lower and faster on each pass.
I can definatley see myself being a speed freak before short )

RE: APC 9x8 on TT-46 pro
Can anyone with some experience give their 0.02$ on this?
Don't mean to be rude and *Bump* my own thread, but I'm ready to shoot an order to Tower and I need to know what kind of props to get before I order

Ditto on the 9x7 for a TT 46 Pro. IMO the 9x8 may work would be a little too much prop for that engine. The 11x6 is too much load for the engine to turn where it needs to be. I would be surprised if you could break 85 mph with a 11x6.

Yeh but isn't the Sky raider a trainer type with no aerodynamic qualities? I run a 9/7 on a TT46pro on a shrike . Seems to me a 10/6 is the appropriate prop for the entire setup. If you want more speed , your going to have to step up in plane, engine and the whole thing.

RE: APC 9x8 on TT-46 pro
Thanks guys, I orded 9x7.
This is just a test, I realize that the Mach2 is indeed a trainer type low wing with quite thick wing profile.
I just want to see if I can speed it up a bit from it's current state.
I might get the Great planes Viper next to put the TT-46 in. Just need to kill the MachII first so I can get the engine out
As I'm a come-back pilot from a five year absence I want to get a few diffrent planes, perhaps some speed, a relaxing glider a warbird etc...
That's why I have to keep in the cheaper stock engine/plane class for a while since I don't want to pay big $$$ for a JETT-50 when I'm still building up my plane/equipment inventory.

I agree with snoop Doggy Bag that a 10x6 may be best for this plane. When drag = thrust you will go no faster. The 9" prop may not produce enough thrust for speed. You may also want to consider the $13 tower muffler as it could add up to 1000 rpm.

RE: APC 9x8 on TT-46 pro
I've already ordered two 9x7 and there's nowhere local I can get these APC props.
I'll try this and see how it performs, as I said, I'm no speed demon, I just want to experiment a bit with the Skyraider and see if I can get it to haul some a**.
