Well... one suggestion is, if you want to beat Magnums, get a West engine... because you will never beat a properly decked out Magnum with the MVVS Q500 engine... And cetainly not with a 9x6 prop on it.

Hi all.
Balsa, yes the table is very big
The Magnums are running with a WEBRA .50, the West engines have many problems becouse all of them are brakeing the cilinder. Maybe it has some construction deffect.
I´ve seen the MVVs .40 Q-500 running since 18000 rpm with a 10x6 prop, I think it was adapted to do it, but it´s very impresive data, isn´t it?
Combat I´m thinking to use many props to find the perfect one, thanks for your recomendation, i´ll prove it.
Thanks all for your help.
Ah! only one thin more, the AIRFOIL it´s the MH-24.

18000 on a 10x6...? That is impressive indeed. You will be lucky to get that rpm on a 9x6 IMO...

Yes Rudeboy, I think so too, but I´m going to lookfor the photography and I´ll put here.
About the west engines, it´s realy true, but not all the west engines has the same problem, I´m refearing to the .50 maked specialy for this plane.

I know you are.
The only real problem I had with mine was a broken piston pin retainer clip... that took out a piston and liner set... never had a problem with it after fitting a new P+L set...

Hi Rudeboy.
The piston pin is on guaranty? If weston changes freely the damage pieces and solve the problem, i´ll go and bougth one of them.
How many time have you the engine?
It´s true that the weather here it´s more hot than there, and could be this the problem. I have hear too here the same problem you have.
May be the new engines have no problems like olds.
In fact, I think it´s a very expensive engine to fly 2 or 3 times, and change the P+L, isn´t it?
How many time are you using the new P+L without problems?
How many rpm´s arrives yours?
What prop are u using?
Thanks.

RE: My summer proyect speed
Antonio,
Whoever said the engines only run 2 or 3 times before breaking is lying.
Mine had many, many flights on it before the retainer went out. And it has many more on it with the new P+L set. I don't know how many flights I put on my Magnum... all I can tell you is that I flew that plane a lot.
I never bothered to try to get the engine fixed under warranty... I just ordered the parts I needed, since I figured that would be faster than sending the engine to Weston to have it fixed. I suppose they would have fixed it free of charge, since this was clearly a warranty case.
I was using an APC 8x8 on my Magnum, it was doing about 20500 rpm on the ground with that prop (peak).
