Bigger prop + more h.p. = more speed ?? + I also have an OS 91 fx engine = cheaper then buy a new 50 or 60 size

I didn't realize bigger prop provided more speed, I thought rpm and pitch were the idea? I'm sure you pick up some speed, but weight and high rev engines were the real advantage. Any engineers online to help out further?

Okay you speedfreaks gots a question for you all to possibly answer. Do any of you guys have a photo of the tail cones or exhaust of a F-20 Tigershark. I'm doing a little more stand off scale and don't have any photos to try to duplicate it. Don't know for sure how fast mine will be cause I'm going to use a Fox 75 on mine with a 13/8 prop.

YOu may know this already but in case you don't. Do you mean the actual F-20 or the F-5? I think Kangke and Cermark F20 are actual F 20 backends where as their is only one single tail cone. All the others that have like a flat back end represent the F-5 series which was a twin engine.

RE: PHOENIX MODELS F-20 TIGERSHARK ?
That's what I'm looking for thanks. Just a little twerk in the back of my head that I wanted to do. This will do just fine. Mines going to be done in a gloss gray and possibly panel lines and fixed gear. Another flyer in the club has one of these and his realy burns holes in the sky. Now all we have to do is patch the sky after he flys.

I understand that one of the best engines for this plane is one of the Jett engines. Many of you have tried running an OS 46FX before switching to the Jett or other engine. What kinds of speeds would one expect with a properly propped 46FX with no special exhaust, just a Tower tuned pipe (the $15 job)? I'm in GA at about 300' elevation.
Thanks,
Gary

RE: PHOENIX MODELS F-20 TIGERSHARK ?
Hello all, I have a Phoenix F20 on the way from tower hobbies, I have been reading the forums and am still undecided on engine set-up, so any help-advice very much appreciated. I cant afford a Jett engine at this time but can stand adding a jett $49 muffler to a cheaper engine. So here are some of the engines I'm thinking about but need help deciding which combo works best I do want as much speed as possible and what props to use also...............thanks mlitt12345
OS50sx $159 1.8 power / 17000rpm weight 13.7oz w/o muffler
OS46ax $114 1.65 power / 16000rpm weight 13.2oz w/o muffler
OS40fx $110 1.36 power / 16000rpm weight 13.6oz w/o muffler
G51 $80 1.48 power / 15500rpm weight 12.7oz w/o muffler
TT46 $88 1.43 power / 16000rpm weight 17.1oz with muffler

RE: PHOENIX MODELS F-20 TIGERSHARK ?
all those engine choice will work well with the Phoenix F20.. I run a OS 50 SX with semi tuned muffler on mine and I really like it...but looking at your price comparsion above. looks like the OS50SX is out priced the others seem more economical with out any performance drop especially if you intend on buying a Jett Stream muffler for your particular choice..
I am surprised you left out the ST GS45 ABC @ $65.00 rated for 1.45 @ 16000 (13.22 w/o muffler)
the ST's Gs45 and GS40 are my favourite budget engines at the moment

I got a OS50SX on the way and a Jett stream muffler, looks like they will make a somewhat economical pair......I wonder how much speed I will get out of this set-up........

great, cant wait to hear how you go with a Jett stream muffler... I'd be interested in the tach numbers as a comparison to what I'm getting with just a Vmax muffler
