RE: Diamond QD (Quick and Dirty)
A few pics below. One of the guys at the field said it looked like a dart in the air - pretty good description I guess. The flames coming from the little OS are a bit of tounge in cheek - it's not a Jett, but it is still a pretty cool little motor. The equipment hatch has a ton of room - next version, I'll cut down the height and size of the hatch which will make for a thinner airfoil and a little less drag.

Strykaas - not sure what a Kato horn is. These are just 6-32 flat head machine screws. I build a ply hard point into the control surface, drill a hole through the hard point, glue in a dowel, and then drill and tap the dowel for the screw. For new prototypes I like the adjustability of this setup.
CP, I'll try to give a flight report after I figure this thing out. At this point, it has extreme rudder authority - so much that controlling it in knife edge is a chore. I've already got a ton of expo in rudder, and I need some more. Might have to perform a little surgery on the sub fins or rear fin before it is over.

Mhhhh interesting setup. Does the dowel hold over time ? I mean, vibrations may alter the fit between the screw and the dowel... Maybe one shall add nuts to both sides to improve strength ?
I was referring to these : http://www.probuild-uk.co.uk/product...tID=&subCatID=
They look stunning and are easy to fine tune also. Japanese brand.
