Hey Guys,

I'll be there. Everybody who thinks he has a fast plane come on. Then we can see who is the second fastest!

NO MERCY,

There was a guy on Google Newsgroups that used to talk about speed, who signed his posts "Hollywood". That wouldn't by chance be you?

Hello Paul,

No, it wasn't me. Is the Google speed group still going on? I may need to check it out. If it is, what is the address? It seems to me that RCU is where the action is.

What about it guys? Is no one interested in Daryl's speed event?

sure I would love to but if it was in Georgia or Alabama. I done drove to Jackson MS. before and no way I could handle a long road trip like that again.

Default Speed trials in the spring ?

I am just trying to see if we can get a good number of these planes together so I can get my club to host this event.I know the only way to find out the fastest comb is get every one together. I feel like I know little about speed,I am a crew cheif on an outboard drag race team(Boatworks race team).Check us on the web at ODBAonline.com and if the boat says boatworks on it I had something to do with it.I feel like I have very fast whiplash-jett combo and would like to test it against others,Thank you Daryl Lane PS if you like to talk to me call at 601-992-9686.PSS Talk to the guys at Whiplash and they may would come to this event.

Default Speed Trials

I fly at the same club Daryl does. We have done this once before within the club and it was very interesting. This spring I will bring my Aurora project. I have flown Daryl's whiplash and I can say it is the fastest delta I have seen. Also, for anyone who has never seen a turbine powered jet, I will bring my BVM Bandit. There will also be a few other jets like Bobcats, and a Euro Firebird with thrust vectoring. The bandit and bobcat are manufactured by Bob Violett Models. His website is www.bvmjets.com. Hope some of you can come. It will be fun and exciting.

Happy flying,

Paul Lott

Daryl,

If this is going to be a competition, there will probably need to obviously be various engine classes so the flying classes are matched.

I personally like to just do some open flying with everyone interested in the same type of speed flying. It's fun to see what the other planes and pilots can can do with different airfames and engines. Most pilots I know just like doing their own thing and hanging out with pilots who have like interests. It's a lot more relaxed. Of course running the traps is also something I would like to do just to see what my hardware is capable of. Most pilots I think would like to know what speed their planes are able to do.

I don't think anyone is really chasing speed records, because the FAI isn't really setup to handle speed records for propeller driven planes unless you go in circles. They don't even have a record class for straight run high speed prop planes over .60 size.

Default Speed trials in the spring ?

Just been thinking about classes and rules.I think as far as rules, safety first. Classes,Maybe a class for Delta wing planes spit up into two classes. One for 0 though .32 engines and the other class for .32 and above, thats it.The other should be for mono wing planes. Unlimited, as long it has a prop. What does everyone think about this.Let me know because we can make this anything we want. Thanks Daryl Lane

Simple is best or you take the fun out of the hobby. Still you might consider dividing the .90 size engines from the .45 size engines. I don't think 3 classes would be too big of a problem. I have (3) .90 size models, (2) .50 class and (1) .32 size. All three sizes have completely different speed ranges.

I think the main thing is to get together, fly fast and furious and have fun!
