Ashley II Q25?

RE: Ashley II Q25?
Thanks for the info on prop guys. I do have a carbon QM40 prop and I ran it yesterday. Certainly no problem turning it either. This is essentially a new engine but has not been used since purchase (probably 3 years ago).
I think this engine is certainly one to be considered for the Miss Ashley which is why I do not feel this would be hijacking the thread
I will try to fly again today and see how these props work. We have a fun club race this weekend with no rules and I want to try to surprise some of the guys with this plane.

RE: Ashley II Q25?
I ended up starting with an 8-7 APC and that prop seemed to tach pretty close to my QM prop which is a 7.4 x 8. Both were running around 18,500 to 19,000. I do not have a very good tach. I only had a chance to fly with 8-7 as the weather was really bad. It did seem to be fast but not scary fast. I will keep testing. Keep in mind I am also flying at 5,000' in CO.

RE: Ashley II Q25?
I’m convinced this plane does not exist. This is someone’s cheap and cruel attempt at teasing and torturing us. Either that, or the people who are selling this plane do not read emails, as several have been sent with no results. Do we officially give this one the FUBAR stamp?
And Kangke has no plans to bring out another F3D plane. I guess it's all about the money.......

RE: Ashley II Q25?
Izzy, I'm waiting for the flight report before I pull the trigger on that one. Plus I'm undecided on the turned up wingtips.....
BTW, I called Kangke after visiting their website and it seems no-one knows of a pylon racer imported to the US.
How do you know Kangke is distributing this model?
Thanks.

How do you know Kangke is distributing this model?
but then again he is not that trustworthy if you ask me
my only impressions, is that the fuselage looks like it was built the same methods as the original f3d (looking at the seams from the inside )
but i couldbe wrong
guess we will find out soon
will keep you posted
BTW , i found a minidelta 2000 kit, which will be here on Sunday morning , so i will now have 6 projects on my table at once
2 clipped wing Diamond dusts kits with FIRE BSE Jett 50 LX's and tuned pipes
1 F3D pylon with QM 40
1 minidelta 2000
1 DD ( modified -thinner ribs to increase speed ) high point of ribs changed to be 1/3 - 2/3 kept the diamond shape rib though)
1 Shrike 10 with OS 32 SX and AAC piston and liner

RE: Ashley II Q25?
Found someone in Europe that has this for sale. www.throttlestore.com
Only problem is that it cost $290 in U.S. currency.
this is a bit over priced for this size plane.

RE: Ashley II Q25?
Finally received an email back from extreme composite about this plane.
This is what they emailed me
The shipping is outrageous. I sent them another email about the shipping. There has got to be a cheaper way to ship this to the states.
Is any one interested in buying one of these? It would take myself and 3 other people to get it here and it would cost $250 plus shipping from my house to you.
Please PM me if you are interested.
Maybe we can get an alternate way to ship these. $490 is CRAZY
I will let you know if they respond with a cheaper shipping rate.
This is what they emailed me
The cost for one ASHLEY II with shipping to your place is US$160+170 = US$330.- But if you order 4 sets, we can give you 20% discount on the model price = US$512.- and the shipping cost will be US$490.-.

RE: Ashley II Q25?
ok you folks out there
maybe i can help
i heard that a LHS here is importing these kits , and cost is $ 170 or so
i could check regarding the shipping costs for you to USA, but i imaging if shipped by EMS , express and insured, it would cost around 80-100$
if shipped regularly , probably cost 50-60$
your only problemi is that payment wil probably have to be made by credit card directly to the shop
if any of you are interested , let me know , and i will see what can be done
thanks

RE: Ashley II Q25?
I bought one of the two Ashleys imported to Israel. Needless to say the quality is exceptional.
Since reading this thread I talked to our local importer and discussed the possibility of shipping a large quantity to the States, say 50-100 pieces.
He feels this can be done and will cut the shipping cost considerably. If the Ashleys are shipped to one forwarding agent in Ill. they can retail at $200-$220 plus local freight & handling making the total cost far more reasonable.
If there is enough interest the logistics can be addressed.

RE: Ashley II Q25?
The wing is 1 inch thick at the root and tapers out to nothing at the tip. The plane was built for speed and turning ability. It does both very well. The wing is one piece and its hard to tell what airfoil it has. We nicknamed it the wallbanger because of the way it makes 180 degree turns, tight and fast.

RE: Ashley II Q25?
Julian. Yes, I have one. My flying buddy had a half dozen sent back from Thailand by someone he knew that was on vacation over there. He gave me one for a song to repay the engine work I did on some of his engines. Don't know what the cost is, but he said that the shipping cost were about the same as the cost of the planes.

RE: Ashley II Q25?
Well guys kqutob and i went to the hobby shop to pick up his new ashley II plane
here is my coments:
the plane is nice, but very small,, the front size of the fuse will not accept anything beyond a 25, or to really stretch it, a 32,
the wing has a short chord , but long wing proportionatly to the fuse, just as in the pics on the site show- i am sure it will glide nicely
you will need anywhere between mini to micro servos for the fuse , and if you put a 25 on it , a very small tank only can fit
i would go electric with this bird, but my lack of experience in this field , would not know what motor, batteries would go inside, and you wouldbe very limited in space for the batteries in the fuse
the wing though was on the heavy side of the scale, all in all, i would rather by the kangke i have ( do a search on my posts- title speed planes)
the plane has a better surface finish, as well as seems a bit bigger and lighter
all in all the hobby shop was selling it for 275$ , so not a bargain, as we thought
izzy
BTW the plane comes in four colors , the one i saw was orange instead of blue, and is the better of the colors for visibility in the air

RE: Ashley II Q25?
Julian, The plane has a modified Webra 36 with a Jett tuned muffler and a 6 oz. tank. The engine is mounted so that the muffler is centered at the bottom of fuselage. Servos are HS 85s and HS 225.
