I have an old ys 45 engine that I havn't run for like 8 years. I used to run it on a profile acrobatic plane. Is this a good engine for a speed plane? Is ys still in business?

Ys still makes some of the best engilnes arround, but now just 4 strokes. Think you can still get repair parts from "performance specialties", the Nelson engine people. I have a 60 and 45 rear exhaust nib in my engine cabinet and would not part with either. Set up correctly, yes they will beat about anything out there but a Jett Engineering engine, my all time favoriate engine is the bse Jett 35. All sports jett enginess will idle with a speed prop, transition like no other, and give you a killer top end. Initial investsment is high, engilne life of years make them the cheepest engines I have ever had. ENJOY

theyalwaysland- YES! The YS-45 on a pipe not a stock muffler is about the closest thing to a Jett for sport engines... A Macs full-pipe 7.5CC and look out-

I have flown a WHip with the YS-45, a Patriot, and a Lanier F-4 all with the YS-45, OS-F plug and Powermaster 20/20% fuel

I bet your engine will run up just fine... make sure you still have the check (one-way) valve and the plumbing correct---- Keep us posted!

P.S. I have a YS-60 I got from Petec on here and I will not EVER part with it- YS-45's are always on Ebay though
