Default West 50V1 throttle not cutting

I know this is bringing up an old subject with West engines, but I thought somewhere, somebody put a different carb on this motor to get it to cut. I have the Dubro switch on it right now and it works but I sure would like to get the engine to work correctly without having all that fuel tubing, extra servo and switch. I have emailed Alan and he doesn't seem to know why either. I can get I to cut if I place my finger over the carb opening. Air has to being leaking past the barrel. I know the opening in the barrel is large on this engine and when you close the throttle, if you don't have it adjusted correctly, the opening will show up on the other side. I have adjusted my throttle for this with no success.
Any help would be appreciated.
