vicman it flies rather well...similar to a GP patriot actually..the kit instructions are difficult to interpret whats going on so the build process on it was time consuming...then a scheme to decide on was another project I didn't want it the same as others so I used a Aussie aniversery scheme....it'll zoom when you want and slow down to around 15-20mph for pretty smooth landings....it takes off pretty good doesn't need much ground roll like the F-16 does not as manuverable though but still a blast to fly. I got over a dozen flights on it so far...the rear engine humps are balsa on mine I didn't use the abs ones that came with the kit...added a tuned pipe over the winter also, have yet to fly it with that on but we'll be heading out to the salt flats sometime next month and I'll give it hell then

I have two Sig wonders:
- The First is a standard Sig wonder with a blue angels scheme flying on an asp .15 with an 8*6 APC. It was quick but not fast!!!! (~60mph)
- The second is a scratch built highly modified Sig wonder (all out of spare balsa and spare mono-cote in my shop hence the strange color scheme, wife didn't want me to spend a lot of money on this idea) with an evolution 46 NT on the front. The airframe is NOT scaled up. It took a lot to get it to balance the battery and servos are all mounted completely in the rear no lead necessary. The engine mounting took some modifications. I am spinning a MA 11*6 Prop and the plane is well over 100+ mph.!!!!!! Still trying to tweak it in. The plane is squirrelly in the air at this speed but is a blast to fly once trimmed in.

Well I got it all trimmed in and tuned. I am still running the engine a little rich. The tips are going supersonic so I may need to up the pitch on the prop for even faster speeds. I practiced some low runway passes and boy does it move. I tested the roll rate. It will spin at about >5 rolls per second, it is very hard to keep track of which side is up when done.

Bretheren....sorry 'bout the slow admissions to the Revvers Brotherhood
applications. My 'puter took a dump, and even though I got it rebuilt, I must
have lost some cookies, because I haven't recieved and subscription notifications
for about three weeks.

This of course would not be the first time I "lost my cookies" !! [X(]

Oh well, I guess it could be worse. [sm=bananahead.gif]

Welcome to all the new Revver Brothers.

Default RE: Speed Freaks Wanted

My ultra fast sig wonder went out in a blaze of glory!!! I was flying with about a 20 mile and hour wind doing low runway passes at our clubs family night. The last corner for line up the plane felt like I was running out of elevator. I barely made the corner and when I came down the runway even full up on the elevator was a lost cause. I hit at 100+ and the airplane exploaded in the center of our runway about 20 feet from me. Thankfully no one got hurt. There are no recoginizable balsa parts. My muffler was destroyed, servos split in half, and I found my fuel tank a good 200 feet away. I think I figured out what happened. Not thinking I put a quick connector on the servo side of the elevator. When I applied enough force to make the corner in the wind at top speed the rod slid in the connector far enough to make full back slightly down elevator.

So I am in the market for another fast 40 size plane. The 46 on a standard wonder was a little unstable. Any suggestions?? I was thinking of a diamond dust.

Sorry to hear that Justin- Sounds spectacular though!!

The DD, if you can find a Whiplash, then there is the Weston Magnum- What powerplant do you want to match?

Cheers!

Flyboy Dave, can I make special request for Revver Bro #150? Nice sounding number.

Hi my name is Dan and I am a speed plane addict. I have been a lover of speed planes for about a year and with the Revver's Brotherhood, I hope to make it to 200mph some day!

At the moment I have more electric speed planes than Internal Combustion, but that can change.

Here is the path of my speed journey:
Electrics: speeds are best guess from some radar measurements and general observations.

Quick, Neu 1105/2.5Y, 3S lipo powered, 130's level, 150's from dive. Quick #1 was literally lost when I lost sight of it one late summer evening last year. #2 had a glitch while banked hard over and very low...took a 120mph dirt nap. #3 is up and running very nicely.

VIP, Mega 16/15/3, just sold. Kinda slow.

Avionik D99, F5D plane from 1999 rules I guess, Neu 1110/1.5Y, 4S lipo powered, 150's level, 165+ from dive.

2 x Excite F5D, current F5D plane, Neu 1506/3D, 4S2P lipo powered, 2nd one powered by Neu 1110/1.5D, 10 GP2200Nimh, guessing 180 to 190 range.

IC powered:

Wildhare RC's LR-1 racer, SJ .50 w/black race muffler. Guessing 160 to 180 range.

2 x Predator II, these are really slow as I have a .25 on it for learning the racing lines. Will go to a TT .40 when ready, then Nelson???

Also have 2 SuperTiger X40 engines with no planes to put them in! RIRE, No Throttle, No muffler, No hearing left!!!! Open to suggestions!

I'll post up some pics later.

Airbike- Dude I don't understand most of that electric stuff (except the MPH #'s ) and you got it bad!

I need an X-40 and isn't there an X-45?

From the TT you will be able to find an MVVS GRRT for a bit cheaper than the Nelsona, if that matters to ya!

Welcome to the Revver's!

Some pics of my speed bug infection:

Pic 1: Excite F5D

Pic 2: Avionik D99 and Airfoilz foamy Yak (a little out of place)

Pic 3: VIP (Yellow) and Quick (white w/orange tips)

Pic 4: Wildhare RC's LR-1 (.25 size composite racers)

Pic 5: LR-1 w/ SJ 50

the blue LR-1 is electric powered but I kept burning things up trying to make it go fast so now it's waiting for better motor/battery.
