ever scraped or sanded the numbers off your prop, so
your buddies can't be exactly sure what prop your running?

field, after most of the fellas have left....maybe knock
back a couple cold ones....and really "let her rip"?
Have you ever blown 80 bucks on a tuned pipe, instead
of buying a new battery for the ol' vehicle ? Have you ever
refilled your 15% flight box fuel can with 20 or 30% ?
( never mind, you don't have to answer that one )

If you can answer yes to a few of these questions....you
sound like a "Speed Nut"....

If you want to have a little fun, join in. The "need for speed"
spans the Globe. We only need to promise.... not to argue
about our equiptment choices....or give out speed secrets
to anyone who lives within a 500 mile radius of your field.

Below is my Caliente Half-A Pylon Racer

Airframe is an own design, using a 36" wingspan and 160squares of wing area. Wingroot is only 3/8" thick, tapers to knife edges at the tips. All up weight is 11oz's.
Engine is a Russian .049 combat engine with many internal mods. Header and pipe are hand made. Runs on 25% nitro
Best run to date is 103.29 mph

I lovingly call my latest rocket the 'Half Canary'. After stacking a rather slow 'Hot Canary' on it's nose..( Wouldn't handle the full throttle dive and pull-out.....little aileron flutter!). I leveled the fuse, just below the top wing saddle, cut down the tail a bit, and added a hot little Max 32sx. Just barely enough wing area to hold it up, but it loves those full throttle dives, and high 'G' pullouts'
What a way to relax! ( It's also a great toy to scare the scale folks with....never seen anyone put a 1/4 scale Cub away so fast!!!)

One of my fastest speed planes is my Avatar pic, a Lyle Larson Vendetta Q40 with a Nelson Q40 engine. This engine turns props at 24,000 on the ground, and takes the plane at speeds over 180 mph.

I would like to take #29 if possible, to match my NMPRA racing number.

Opinions please. Where is the best place to look for speed!!! With a delta like a Dust' , or with a long thin wing, like the little half-a, 'Caliente' that 'Matchlessaero' built?
I've often wondered if all the 'wetted area' the deltas have is a disadvantage over a wing like the 'Caliente' or a Quickie 500??
I've really wondered, since I discovered, that my little stubby wing 'Half Canary' seems to be as fast, or maybe even faster than my Dust, with the same Max 32sx??
Sorry, no speed gun on either...just a feeling.
Want to design something for speed, just not sure which way to go???? Any ideas??
