A very nice plane indeed. I have one and they are very rugged airplanes unlike many of the arfs that are made out of the plywood. The faster this plane goes the better it flies so let her rip.

RE: A NEW PATRIOT IS BORN!!!
Here are few more pictures. Had another flights yesteday, what a blast! Try to get in flight pictures and videos but it was too cloudy and dark. Thank you all for the compliments. The Patriot has to be one of my favorite prop airplanes. I built my first one in 1993, with an OS 50 and hobbico retracts. It flew great and had a top speed of about 105 mph. After about 400 flights, i lost it and sware that i would build another one. The new Patriot has changes and improvements which enhance the overall performance:
1. The vertical stab- was enlargened slightly.
2. Rudder was enlargened (1/2 in taller and 1/2 in wider)
3. Nose was cut off by 3/4 in (helped in balancing YS 60)
4. 1/8 ply retract doubler plate was raised 1/2 in so D&B nose retract would have better fit.
5. D&B nose retract was moved as far to the right side of the fuselage so header pipe could go aroud it
6. Spinner ring was increased from 1 3/4 in to 2 1/2 in (helped with the fit of the YS 60).
7. 14 ounce fuel tank was reloacted between F2 and F3.
8. All landing gear support was strenghtened.
9. Wings were fully sheathed.
10. Do dihedral in wing.
11. Aileron width was changed from 1 1/8 in to 1 5/8 in.
12. Alieron was extended by 2 in.
13. 8 in of alieron was cut off and used at flaps.
The entire airplane was covered in fiberglass and z-poxey, primed, and painted with klass koat. Decals were added and the entire airplane was clearcoated with dupont chromaclear. The final weight is about 8 1/2 lbs. (my scale is not that accurate). The airplane is an absolute joy to fly, it gets off our thick sod grass runway in less than 125 ft and truley has out of sight vertical. it was radared with an upwind pass of 139 mph and a downwind pass of 151 mph, and that was with the YS running rich.

RE: A NEW PATRIOT IS BORN!!!
Here is a little imformation about the quickie. the smaller quickie is a 25% scale airplane from Saint Croix aircraft. This quickie has an OS46 for power and weighs about 6 3/4lbs. I have been flying this airplane for 7 years and like it so much that i enlargened the plans and scratch built the larger 42% quickie. It has a wingspan of 87inches is93inches long and weighs 19 3/4lbs. It has a 3W24 gasser for power which is a great combo. The quickie is a very good flyer, looks like the real airplane in flight, and can be flown very, very slowly.By the way this quickie came in second place in stand off scale at the New York ram show in 2005.

I like the Quickie too, here is one that unfortunately is not mine, but one I painted, I'd like to do a model of this someday, this is a quickie 2 I believe.
The patriot looks great by the way, I had one years ago painted in the paris airshow F20 scheme, but I didn't really like how it flew at the time so I sold it.

RE: A NEW PATRIOT IS BORN!!!
Bob R2: Yes she is quick, very quick. After 10 flights I think that the YS60 is broben in and I can beguin to run it a little leaner. I`m using an APC 11*9 prop, turning 12,700rpm with a pipe length of 16" from the glow plug to the widest part of the pipe. I can either cut the header shorter or try a cut down 11.25*12.5APC prop to absorbe even more power from the YS60, what do you guys think?I really dont know if this will make a big diffrence. I usually fly the patriot at 1/2 throttle which is still over 100 mph, so I can hear the i4c air whistles. This combo. has so much power that after a high speed low pass I can go vertical and loose sight of the patriot before she runs out of steam. I love this airplane!
