Not a viper, but I have flown Q-500 designs on floats.
Not a problem. Flys well.
A little bit of yaw instability if anything, but nothing critical.
28" are pleanty large enough.

I have a Lanier Predator on GeeBee floats. I'm using 40 Super Tigre. I have taken it to several float flys and have been told that it was the fastest plane at the event.
It will do a wicked snap when you pull up full and quick on the evlevator.
It comes in hot. I use a lot of expo in the elevator to allow smooth landings and touch n goes.
Give it a go.
