MIRAGE MINI

description:
The Mirage 2000 is a superlative delta type jet fighter. The unique design is paired with excellent flight characteristics.
The Mini-Mirage is a very fast jet featuring sound aerobatic capabilities: Superb rolls, big loops or quick and low dives are no problem. The delta configuration offers great low speed capabilities too.
Like its larger brother the Mini-Mirage 2000 is characterised by a wide speed range and sound flight characteristics!
content:
kit with white gel coat finished glass fuselage and engine cowl (= tail jet nozzle)
CNC-cut foam core + obeche sheeted + glass reinforced wing (one-piece design, compression-mold)
wooden parts (tail unit, etc)
transparent cockpit canopy
small parts
construction plan
technical data:
R/C: 3 - 4 servos
wingspan: ca. 850 mm
wing area: 19.5 dm^2
length: ca. 890 mm
motor : 3.5 - 5 ccm
weight: from ca. 1000 g
kit price: 149 €
engine/pipe/prop recommendations:
[ul][*]JETT BSE .35 FISE (tilted) + Jett-Stream muffler + APC 9X6 pusher prop (#LP0906P) or APC 10x7 pusher prop (#LP1007P) shortened/rebalanced to 8.5x7
=> max top speed of about 160 mph (= “FAI“ speed of 200 m speed trap)
[/ul]

SPEED COBRA

description:
Our Speed Cobra is smaller than the original one. It is made for “real“ speed freaks only.
Already ultra high performance 3.5 cc FIRE engines (NOVAROSSI, ROSSI etc) will provide adrenalin attacks. Even more speed will be achieved using a hot .40 sized rear exhaust engine...
Despite of the high speeds obtainable we paid close attention to user friendly flying behaviour: Our SPEED COBRA - like the original - is easy to control, especially during take-off and landing. So it is also highly recommended for the beginner speed pilot.
The weight of about 1.5 kg does guarantee first-class allround performance.
After engine-shut-off the SPEED COBRA does glide slowly allowing pinpoint landings.

specifications:
wingspan: 1010 mm
total length: 1030 mm
R/C: 4 servos
Motor: 3.5 to 8.5 cc FIRE or RIRE speed or ducted fan engine (or a hot .60 in a .40 case)
weight: from 1200 g
kit content:
white glass-fuse/tail-fin unit; balsa sheeted foam wing with already glued and sanded leading edge and wing tip; cut aileron servo compartments including integrated servo wiring; elevator unit (symmetrical airfoil) made from balsa sheeted foam including already glued and sanded leading edge and tip; white fuse/wing fillet made of glass; wing mount; small parts
kit price: 169€
engine/pipe/prop recommendations:
[ul][*] JETT BSE .35 FIRE (upright) + MACS 1130 or 1230 tuned pipe + APC 7X8 prop (#LP07080)
=> max top speed of about 165 mph (= “FAI“ speed of 200 m speed trap)[*] JETT .60 LX FIRE (upright) + MACS 1160 or 1260 tuned pipe + APC 8.75X9.0W prop (#LP08889W)
=> max top speed of about 175 mph (= “FAI“ speed of 200 m speed trap) [*] OS .46 VX-DF (upright) + MACS 1150 or 1250 tuned pipe + APC 8.75X9.0W prop (#LP08889W) shortened/rebalanced to 8x9
=> max top speed of about 180 mph (= “FAI“ speed of 200 m speed trap) [*] OPS .45 RIRE (upright) + MACS 1150 or 1250 tuned pipe + APC 8.75X9.0W prop (#LP08889W) shortened/rebalanced to 8x9
=> max top speed of about 185 mph (= “FAI“ speed of 200 m speed trap)

Interesting - the 60LX doesn't do as well by comparison as I thought it might. I wonder what the static rpm was on that prop.

Default RE: SPEED COBRA

Well, the JETT .60 LX still remains a performance sport engine featuring certain design-related internal flow-rate restrictions compared to a quality RIRE ducted fan or true speed engine of identical capacity.

Good .40 to .45 sized DF engines do outperform the .60 LX!

But depending on the airframe drag involved the JETT .60LX will be the better/faster engine if a certain minimum prop diameter is required to make that airframe move well...

P.S. If the speed folks are wondering about the equivalent audio-Doppler-shift or radar gun speeds of all above listed fast planes, then you just can add 10 to 20 mph to each mentioned FAI speed (FAI = averaged speed over 200 m distance + both directions to compensate the wind factor).
