Those following this know it went into stasis for a while, my apologies but life is life and all that. Here we are again.. all radio install details complete, hatches made, pipe mount figured out (see ply spine down hatch, 6/32 mounting screws front and back to ply base plates), pushrods made, IMC and throttle pushrods installed and working well.
Colour trim, radio checkout, ground runs, then.. some decent weather and you know what's next.
That's a Mike Hazel/ZZProp 8.2x11 on the front.
I think the photos uploaded, lets see.. yeah they did.
Ought to beat my .50 versions anyhow. Either in top speed or crater diameter. Let's hope it survives the test flights and makes it to NC. I/we're determined to get our **** together and get there this time.

The pipe could be more aerodynamically cowled, but this was less ambitious a plug/mold project and I wanted a cowl that could be used for SE engines too. Really, I think it looks hornier with the pipe hanging out anyway. I'm sure I won't miss those last 4 mph.
Actually the pictures reminded me I still have to deal with the cooling inlet.

Looks AWESOME [:-] !! That prop looks ridiculous ! It reminds me of the Chevy Vegas that ran easy 9s with big block Chevys. I'm sure you'll be thrilled seeing that sucker destroying all those air molecules, sucking in small birds, etc..

I was not a strong art student. Visibility and preventing the trim from peeling off are my primary concerns.
Thanks to SmokinRv4 for his government work on the vinyl graphics, though he will wince when he sees how I modified them in the end.
Now to seal all this with the trim iron and some clear Lustrekote around the edges, then a few little mechanical details are left: radio switch, hatch holddowns, that sort of thing.
Almost, almost..
I thought these deltas were supposed to be quick build "toss 'em up" affairs. I ought to write the manufacturer and give him a piece of.. oh wait..

Two more.
Photos taken at "VGA" setting are the visual equivalent of singing in the shower.. [8D]
Notice there are no photos of the underside. Had a couple of artistic/paint issues "down there". Nothing a few belly landings* won't obliterate.
* Plural? Hope I'm not getting too optimistic.

Lookin' sweet man! Just make sure the grass is cut short so no cartwheel landings and ruin that piece of art.

I've been thinking about a belly skid lately, but of course I should have thought of that earlier. The bigger worry is getting those $$$ props to stop horizontally.

RE: Screamin Demon .65 build thread
What I have an urge to build is a Demon-a-pult launcher. I picture a length of Unistrut channel, supported at the far end by one of those folding metal sawhorses that come on sale at the hardwares now and again. An internal sliding block of hardwood with off-the-shelf teflon furniture glides for a smooth ride. A pylon comes up out of the open top of the channel, on top of the pylon is a delta support frame. The frame is tall enough to clear 9" props. The support has a foam covered belly pad, and a crosspiece at the rear with V shaped forks for the TE to seat in in on either side of center and at the tips to hold it level. The block has an eye in the front for bungee, which runs forward through the channel and to a turnaround pulley that directs the bungee down and back along the underside of the channel - more length. In the delta is a standard 1/4" hole in the TE on centerline - a hardpoint you build in or retrofit - that engages a vertical pull pin for restraint/release.
A picture would be easier.. but anyhow I want to build a delta launcher along those lines.
"Pull!"..

The unistrut idea is good. A single 10 foot stick of 1" EMT could be cut in half to form legs at the high end. Hammer about 2 inches of one end of each leg flat and drill it for 1/4" bolt. Drill the strut and fasten the legs with a 2 inch long bolt and thumb screw. Tent stakes and cordage work to anchor the contraption.

Yeah something for more consistant launches would be nice, save on the damaging flubbed hand launches.[:@]

RVman commented on the torque roll on his .77 model, I saw it when I launched it once. I'd prefer not to have to worry about torque roll plus the acceleration of a small pitchy prop. No need to be a hero. But I'll be doing a few shakedown runs on the ground, and then I can get a feel for the static thrust situation. I really have no idea how hard this will pull from the launch. The RC Speedcup launches don't look too bad, but they are generally more conventional layouts - a 32" delta with light outer panels has very little roll inertia or damping!
