I'm not sure I want to tear this thing apart too much but would it be possible to replace the balsa area with some harder stock that wouldn't strip out as easy??
You could bond in a piece of plywood to the underside of the aileron/flap assemblies and recover. I will do this to keep the clean lines of this bird. But I do agree with Bill, the method chosen by Horizon to attach the horns has proven to work well.

Looks great Robby! Please give a full report. :_)

My Jackal arrived yesterday and I'm really impressed with the quality of the build. Great job H9. I'm ready to get to the build ASAP

I had to do a quick mock up to get excited about the build...This thing looks fast just sitting on the bench.

Bill,
First off I want to say thanks and great job!! I know you can't please everyone all the time reqardless of how well designed a product is. The nit picking is nothing more than that and after going over the bird last night, I have to say that this is an awesome design!! The perfect size, the perfect lines and scheme. It really captures the presense of a well thought out design. Awesome removeable canopy and access to everything is going to eliminate the need to install anything on the fuse exterior i.e. switches, gauge, fuel dot etc.... I love my kit built patriot and no disrespect here, but this thing makes it look like an ugly stick.....

At first, I thought the fuse was fiberglassed with the smooth lines. All wings are easily removeable and foam core balsa build up wings are smooth and strong. This thing is going to be such an easy and clean build that I may go all out with struts and machined aluminum wheels.

I, along with two other guys are going with the Jett 50, 56 & even one guy with the Jett 60. Can't wait to see someone try a hot electric set up........ 180+mph???

I know it's too early to know where this design is going to take ya'll but please consider a .90 or larger size. I do like the .50 but I didn't realize how awesome this thing was going to appear up close. I could see this easily being a fast larger bird with a heart stopping down on the deck fly by!!!!! This is definately going to turn heads and we can't wait to get all three up in formation....

Again, great job!!!!!

all went well today 8 flights.. 3 dead sticks.. i never used the flaps as we had a huge head wind,, i was alittle disappointed with the speed ? [] maybe the 9x8 will pick it up alittle.. we will see tomorrow.. its a real head turner as alot of pictures was taken.. so maybe that made up for the speed thing.. lol  a real nice plane for sure..

congrats on the maiden robby,

put the 9x8 on there and watch it go.....remember too that it's still breaking in, and Dub builds these to last so it'll take a bit, but once it comes on, man it comes on.

Robby,
I'm glad your first day was a success and thanks for the report and photos. Looks great! I'll bet that the speed gets a lot better as the Jett starts to wind up a few more rpms. Did you get a tach reading? Just wondering... I need to start breaking in mine. Anyway, congrats.
