Yup another Demon is ready to fly

Engine: Super Tigre X45 with factory tuned pipe 9x8 @19k
Servo: HS 225 MG
Battery: 6V 2000mah
Cover: Ultrakote

That engine is certainly no slouch. I wonder how my older blue head ringed version compares. Good finished weight too, it ought to go like a raped ape.

Lovin' it...I haven't even got a Demon ready for this year[:-], been working on on other stuff for this year, but I've been contemplating it for my Jett 60lx these last few nights, they don't take that long to build if there left stock. Hmmmm

I think the blue head X serise engines were more of a pattern engine. For some reason there is almost no information on vintage Super Tigre engines. Highly recomend the X45 its VERY Light and runs great. However the ST card kinda sucks I swaped it out with a perry carb.

Well that Demon didn't last long. Flew it for the first time yesterday and it was the last. It launched great, and a few clicks of trim was all that was needed. The ST X45 ran like it should. A couple of passes later the engine went to full idle and she rolled right then into the ground. Not sure what the deal was yet. I know my dx7 lost its link because the throttle at idle was the position the stick was in when I binded it. And the right roll is where it was when the bind locked in before I trimed it. The battery showed plenty of juice I had a very nice HD switch. All I can see is that the satellite rx was dissconected but the rx and the satellite were in the same placed the were mounted. Could I lost signal if the satilite thing became unplugged????

Big super bummer[&o] How did the engine fair? Every time I'm about to commit to spread spectrum, I hear about a crash.

The engine is fine. Maybe I put the satellite to far away putting some tenchion on the plug. Oh well SH** happens. Already mounting the X45 into a Weston Magnum R. Having to make a new canopy section to cowl in the pipe for the rear exhaust ST x45. The Demon was very fast had 2 full throttle passes. It was passing a electric s400 like it was standing still and that plane has been clocked at 142. The 2.4 stuff is still a better system them my 72 was at our field. Whould the satellite coming unplugged cause the loss of signal??

Oh man, that hurts.. real sorry to hear that.

I would expect you have (er.. had) a 165-170 mph machine there.

The Magnum will be a bit slower on the same engine but will still haul patootey. I noticed the difference between my Magnum R and Demon on the same West .50/pipe/prop combos.

Losing the satellite receiver connection after the receiver is turned on and bound will not lose your bind. If the satellite is not connected, you cannot get a bind when you first turn the receiver on.

Was main reciever blinking? Indication of brown out, (or failsafe activation, I think)

19,000 on an APC 9x8 that is about 700 rpm more than a 60 LX and about 600 more than the Jett 56 LX.

Ok? Never messed with thoes engines. Old ST are very powerfull and VERY LIGHT. The big problem is finding parts.

Not true, or rather it may not bind without the satellite, but it will power up fine and work okay without it. This means bind with the satellite, then dis-connect it.
I've flown one of my planes without a satellite hooked up at all (new build, left it at home). Had no problems with the plane, flew it about 10 times that day.

I have a JR 9503 and you will lose signal if the satelite is unplugged. At least one satelite receiver must be plugged in on most 2.4 rx's, that use them.

I have been flying for 4 years using 2.4 and have never had a problem. I was at Joe Nall in 2010, where that's all you can use, and they had no problems.

Now that looks fast just sitting still! I'm an electric guy - so my obvious question is how easily could it be converted to electric? And I don't know much at all about i.c. engines - what kind of pipe is on that ?
