I have a problem

I have more engines than kits. This is worrisome.

Motor problems

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1983200Where is the problem I think there are 19 motors shown I have around 19 OS AXs then there are the stack of Saitos and 4 stroke OSs

Lomcevak Duck 04-01-2014 06:06 AM

The problem is not so much that I have too many engines. No, the problem is that they are not on airframes and flying.

I think I need to build... (diabolical laugh)

Gizmo-RCU 04-01-2014 07:57 AM

To avoid further stress sent them to me I'll pay postage!;)

(love helping folks with emotional problems)

Crazy4Flight 04-01-2014 08:23 PM

I have a few kits/arfs I can sell you.

Lomcevak Duck 04-02-2014 11:48 AM

You guys are always willing to help. What a group...

Gizmo, I'm tempted to send you one of my engines for the price of shipping. I've got a K&B .40 that is charred black on the inside, locked up, has stripped glow plug threads, broken cooling fins, cracked crank case, and the carburetor is broken off. It's also missing the drive plate and the threads on the crankshaft don't look right. It makes a fine paper weight if you don't mind the grease marks it leaves. :)

Gizmo-RCU 04-02-2014 03:41 PM

Actually have one that is in good shape, but thanks!

f3d 04-05-2014 11:56 AM

To much engines

I have more than 2000 engine and a huge bunch of spare parts for most of the engines and no problem with that.

I have 3 convertibles and live where it snows!

MJD 04-05-2014 03:26 PM

I like flying and live in Canada.. :(

combatpigg 04-05-2014 03:27 PM

2000 engines........in individual boxes would probably fill up the entire bed of a full size pickup truck.....up even with the top of the cab?
[figure the boxes are 6" x 6" x 4".]

Awesome collection!

combatpigg 04-06-2014 09:34 PM

If each engine averaged 3/4 pound, that would max out a 3/4 ton pick up truck's [legal] load capacity....right..?
That engine collection weighs about as much as a 3 fully assembled small block V-8 engines.

f3d 04-06-2014 11:24 PM

what you see on the pictures is only a small part of all the engine stuff - a example

Regards Michael

No doubt about it...!
I had a small amount of model plane engines in a cabinet in my barn. Rats or mice found their way into the cabinet. They chewed up the cardboard boxes and their urine ruined some of the cast aluminum.

Rudeboy 04-09-2014 11:36 AM

Welcome to the ratrace... :p

combatpigg 04-09-2014 04:28 PM

I see you got your Head Banger back...!
He probably just needed a vacation, maybe even a neck operation..?
We are coming up on the 70th anniversary of the break through at St Lo this year.
It would be interesting to speak with some 80+ years olds to hear what they remember about life back then.

I have seen your postst before and have often wanted to know what a "lomcevak duck" is thanks ,watts

And the 70th anniversary of the sinking of the St. Lo, also marking the 70th anniversary of the first major vessel sunk via kamikaze attack.

"lomcevak duck hows the problem going, any way round it yet or in the near future. Yours Paul T

Lomcevak Duck 07-17-2014 10:01 AM

I put a .32SX on a Dynaflite Butterfly. That helped to clear a small spot on the shelf that I quickly filled with another OS .20FS

I'm also working on a home for the Jett FIRE .56LX, but it's coming along slowly.

I know what I'd have put in the Butterfly ,that OS 20 FS is perfect up front . I do use a 26 in mine which is in the shop for a regeneration. Yours Paul T

Lomcevak Duck 07-18-2014 03:22 AM

I agree with you that the .20FS would have been a better match for that airframe. I have an old OS .19 steel fin with an articulating baffle that I wanted to use, but this thing built out way too tail heavy. with the .19 or .20 on the front and the battery pack up against the firewall, I still needed a ton of lead to make it balance right.

The .32SX is not an ideal match to the airframe, but it helped me get the CG right without any lead and it idles really well, so it works out okay. Hand launches are a joke with this setup. I'm running a 10x4 prop and I can just about point it straight up and let it go.

The next one I build will probably get a 2" extension to the nose.

Just read your post regarding the 2 inch in the nose I use about 1&3/4'' with about 15 degrees down thrust, this works fine on my butterfly's. Still on the rebuilds with a new Kit in stock.

Combatpigg I thought I was the only one that did spur of the moment math to figure out something like that...just for the heck of it...lol

combatpigg 03-11-2015 07:12 PM

My favorite "spur of the moment math" equations are the ones that compare how much 17 trillion dollar bills represents in physical proportions.

2000 engines is hard to fathom. Depending on their average size, he might have 4000 HP at his finger tips....or $10,000 worth of glow plugs that need to be changed right now....

Quigleywins 03-11-2015 09:21 PM

Lomcevak Duck What aircraft did you have for the OS 120 SP in or is it like mine never seen fuel . One day when I get older I would like to build a model that they powered . That one is on the bucket list. I am going to run her before I die . Did dream of a Twin project with them up front not hard I have one aircraft finished and flown that would take them.

Well, I actually have two now. One I run on a test stand for grins and gigs. I have an Ultrasport 1000 kit that I'm thinking about building for it. It's in that "eventually" file.

The other is NIB and it's for sale in the RCU marketplace right now.

MJD 03-12-2015 04:02 PM

I try to stop acquiring engines.. but..

Last night I drove to a buddy's house to deliver his birthday gift (a Hobbyking Pulsejet, he was "quite delighted") and he dragged me into the shop and said "I'll never run these, they need a good home.."

NIB OS .15 FP :o
AME .061 FF/CL
AME .061 R/C with tank mount
Dragonfly .049

1 engine out, 4 engines in - keep this up I'll hit 2000 yet.

Bonified Wingnut 03-12-2015 06:41 PM

MJD he just made room for his Pulsejet....and you lost a little ...lol

MJD 03-12-2015 07:05 PM

I have one already, I'm all set. When I ordered his, the already crazy low $99 price tag was reduced to $87-something. That's for the engine, high tension starter, spare reeds, and mount hardware.

The LHS price tag on the OS .15 is $95.00. I came out rosy.

The HK Redhead Demon (Fartin' Martin? Toots?) prototype will hit the bench soon.

Bonified Wingnut 03-12-2015 08:05 PM

I was kinda thinking space wise... He has room for 4 more engines now.

Now this is what's in the shed and to make it a little more impressive two SP would do the trick. I like having things that no one else has. This last flew 2 years ago. A mate of mine is on the sticks Its mine I built it ,but he flies it (I lack the skills) Well I put it together as its 2 ARF with a few more parts It had 3 flights in total and as you can see it flies on one engine OK Power on this one is 2 X OS 120 AXs Wing span is 2-7 meters. One big machine to get to the field
With only a few minutes it can be put back as designed by Seagull and fly as a single as long as you bring along the two extra wings it has elec retracts operating on two channels so you can take of on two wheels and land on 4

I'm hesitant to sell through a discussion thread (against the rules I think) but since you asked about it, here is the link to the RCU marketplace ad: http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/ite...itemID=1021493

By the way, those are really neat twins in your post above.

Whoosh.. over my head! I get you now. Luckily my 1/2A drawer is not quite full, it will hold a few more. I had to make room for the .15 though. I'm tickled I got that, I have a .15 bipe to prototype and it is the perfect engine - just a really good mannered sport engine.

MJD 03-13-2015 07:06 AM

Stupid double posts.. deleted.

That's a great deal for both sides..!
I dare you to build a 18" x 18" square, cellophane covered PBF for the Dragon Fly. [Use all 1/4" x 1/4" sticks]
