Over the next several weeks, we will be posting several videos on this thread showing proper setup and operation of the Wren motors and systems.
First video up is my soon to be test flown Cessna 425 with twin 44 Turbo Props. This is a two part video of the start and run up only. It is posted here to kick off this thread.
If you have any suggestions on a video subject, please post here or email me.
I would like to thank George Haak for taking the time to help me with this project, as I am not a video guy!

Another Wren TPhere, This is my 54TP that was converted to Kero Start
using a Wren Kstart upgrade package. This TPis not currently produced
it is a larger version of the 44TP with a 54 sized thrust unit. The Kero conversion was quite easy.
It will be flown soon in the YAK55SP-T
NOTE: you can see here how all Wren TP's are mounted.. all it takes is a hole in the firewall or in a box
protruding from the firewall.. much easier that the competitors TP's, those require two separate mounts,
one for the turbine unit and another for the gearbox!!!!

Pump start point adjust and runup
This video shows how to set up a KStart conversion or to troubleshoot
any K start problems.. Wren 100 shown with Zicoy ecu
What is ahown here is what I did to get my 54TP to start successfully.. wasn't that hard to do!!!
I also converted a Wren 75 from propane to Kero Start, it went perfect the first time. It is the turbine that provides the push
for my FOXself launch glider
Basically a too low "pump start volts" = failed start, a too high setting may give some unwanted flames, but once it
it dialed in you get perfection. My 54 needed 3 small increases to get it right..
Note.. this is a Wren 100 with 22 lbs thrust..in the same sized case as the original Wren 54 and SuperSport.. quite nice!!

I made an incorrect statement in that last video. The Xicoy ECUs' come to us unprogrammed. Actually, our clone file has the Max Pump Limit set to 800 on all of our motors. This is the reason for the adjustments...
Any constructive criticism is welcome, and as this progresses, we will video complete start up to shut down, with thrust readings.
I am in the process of rebuilding the test stand, and our weather here is terrible. But we will get this done.
Cheers!

Hey George,
Where did you get the stainless pipes?
I'm in the process of installing a 54 TP in a Carf Extra 330 and need to add length to get out of the wide cowl of the extra. What you have there looks perfect.
Those from Tam or?
Might have to do that Kero start conversion as well. I can see the propane thing being a pain on this install.
Cheers,
PaulD

YES I got them from tam because if you look at my YAK TP thread ( http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11...m.htm#11358550) there is a picture there somewhere when I have the TP mounted and the original stacks were not long enough for the YAK cowl as it is scaled for a radial engine. SO I called TAM and he made me a set, he probably still has the dimensions there. Just mention my name.
The Kero conversion is very nice and you get the latest Zicoy ecu as well. it is not hard to do but you will probably have to fiddle with the "pump start point" as Ron has pointed out earlier in this tutorial. ALSO when you remove the glow plug, there might be a kero stick visible inside the turbine, this has to be bent slightly out of the way but this is easy and it is shown in the instructions you get with the K start kit. I'm sure Ron will provide excellent support for this too...
SO do you have a MK V TP?

Hi George,
I have just received my 44TP and saw this fuel pump break in video of yours.
There is nothing about this 'break in' in the manual, how long does it take?
I got my engine from the UK and I do not know if pump has had its break in
Thanks
Mario

I have had 2, 44TP's and a 54TP and they both ran perfect from the factory. I believe that Ron was explaining what he does at his shop in Decatur Indiana to motors he prepares for shipment to the US and Canada. SO you should have no worries. However he can be contacted at: [email protected] if you need further clarification

All pumps are thouroughly tested for each motor at the factory, prior to delivery. When you receive your turbine , it is ready for installation, no further break-in is required.

Thanks Ron, good to know. I have just ordered a new 100 and a spare ecu and fuel pump. I will give the spare pump a run in at differing voltages for an hour.
