Anybody have any suggestions on a pipe thread tape or other material that could be used on the threads of 4 stroke mufflers. I'm looking for a way to stop the leaking as well as help prevent the muffler coming off in flight. I lost one off of a YS91 a couple of weeks ago and was lucky enough to find a replacement. I don't want to repeat that if I can help it.

Larry, I used an aluminum based high temp never-sieze. Not only does this let you disassemble the system when wanted, it seems to keep it from vibrating apart.

I don't know if Devcon Loctite is heat resistant. I believe it is and if so will both seal and keep the header from leaking. You can still remove the header and muffler despite the imlications of the product name of Loctite.

The best sealer I have found is Permatex "Ultra Copper". I use it on both 4 strokes and 2 strokes. I've never had it "burn out" of any of the joints, yet allows for easy disassembly. I use it instead of gaskets between muffler and head on 2 strokes also. My 4 stroke mufflers stay really clean using Ultra Copper on all the exhaust connections.

Hello; Currently the latest technology is a ceramic based never seize compound called "rock and roll" We found that the copper and lead based compounds would deteriorate in the presence of calcium chloride, which is what they were using to dust-proof our roads around here. It also created a mini battery, being two diss-similar metals and served as a sacrificial anode, encouraging corrosion. It's messy stuff to use, wipe it clean after you're finished. It says on the can that it's gaurenteed to 1375 degrees F
