Although many have already concluded similarly in their own opinions, the pilot should be commended for his honesty and bravery for admitting his role.

Default RE: B52 Crash Update,

In a full and frank report the pilot stated that, partly due to distractions on the flight-line, but principally as a result of an "incorrect input" due to disorientation, the model was overbanked and crashed
I think that in this unfortunate accident, the only way to state that the plane crashed because a "incorrect input" is reading the info from a flight recorder system. I couldn't imagine how the pilot could remember or know where he was pushing the sticks at the critical 1/10 second of the flight that lead to the crash. Seems to me that this report is mostly a try to put a official end to this story.

Just my thoughts, Enrique

Yes but the question still remains, did he over bank to the right, or to the left?!

The B52 will rise from the ashes.

Another B52 is at the moment under construction by the same builder. It will be powered by 8 of Wrens MW54 mark 3 engines. Substantial modifications are being made to the design.
See the news section on the Wren site for details.

Holy cow what a mess.

They look so good when you build them and so bad when they crash. Look at those poor engines. What I wouldn't give for just one of them!

In my mind, I'm asking "Why??" What benefit is there to resurrecting the same airframe? I guess he has his reasons, but to me, he proved that it could be done, so why not move on to something different - like a B-47 or an AN-225 --- they would attract as much attention....

Nobody was killed, but just imagine the questions (bout safely)
that was asked after this crash. He put all the best equipment in etc etc.
But at the end of the day, if it is pilot error, the equipment wont make a
difference, the piolt is to blame, although here in the UK we all have
BMFA insurance to cover death, if it killed somebody, then it would
be a huge problem for aeromodelling. We are having a hard time as it is,
its hard to find cheap flat sites (its hard to find sites at all), no government (lottery) funding therefore usally
big membership prices etc.
I do think that the LMA have published new 'over 20kg' rules.
Was this the biggest RC model?

The largest, last time I checked, is the 450 pound B-29.
I think it was included in Guinness around 2003-2004.

Yes it is a Belgian B29, four ZDZ 210's for power. 12 metre wingspan (36foot compared to the B52's 20?)

They have a website somewhere, search google some and you should find it, for such a large model I swear it has no flaps!!!

I do think that the LMA have published new 'over 20kg' rules
I think there are also new "over 80kg rules" in addition to the 7 and 20 kg rules. Or was it 100kg? I am not sure but this was mentioned in either RCM&E or the BMFA news
