It's 16 cc or 1 cubic inch power is about like a sport 60 engine.

Enjoy,

Jim

They are fragile, don't hand start at all, usually, power is really bad considering the motors weight. Parts are not too plentiful. Keep it in the box and pass it on to a collector.

A few people were happy with the Maloney engines, far more were disgusted at having spent the money for them. Serves better as a paper weight or conversation piece than as a power unit usually.

All the horror stories aside, I have a Maloney 100 on a 1/6 scale WACO and have been very pleased with it. The plane is a bit overpowered (that's the way I like it). The engine starts with a starter without any problems and runs like a clock. Never had an engine failure just smooth reliable runs. Besides the function, I think it is one of the best looking engines ever made of this type and I also like the innovative muffler and choke design.

Yep, it's a shame that people listen to the anti guys more than the pro guys. A lot of perfectly good engines get bypassed that way.

David:

You can't say I'm "Anti-Maloney." I've only played with a couple. They both needed an electric start, and while they ran nicely once started, powerful they weren't.

John Maloney (World Engines) and I had a good working relationship dating back to 1960, and even he admitted the Maloney engines weren't what he had hoped they would be. Primarily the hard hand start and lack of power.

Still, a nice running engine, just had to use the electric starter.

WR, the two 125s I have are 7,200 rpm engines no matter what you do. The gasoline one turns a 15x8 two blade at 7,200 and Diesel one turns a 15x8 three blade at 7,200 but with a much smaller carb. I believe that the stock carb was too big even for gasoline operation, the only thing the last 30% of throttle opening accomplished was to let the carb throb louder with no increase in rpm.

Sounds like most Maloney's need the part that goes between the carb and the muffler!

I've been lurking these forums for a while, thought it was time to post

Turn it into a glow engine using a ST carb.

Runs good I bet...as long as you keep the fuel tank high. in a airplane you may need a way to pressurize the tank or a pump of some kind. Here is my 25cc Homelite! Good Luck Capt,n

I just started playing with it, I already new the reputation of the engine but I found this engine for almost nothing and I was looking for a challenge. Don't know if it will ever go into a plane. If it does I think a fuel pump will be needed because tank location could be a problem. Only ran 10% fuel so far, going to try no nitor and then 15%.
Hey this is a hobby and playing with this engine is fun.

I just obtained a Maloney 125. I am looking forward to tinkering with it. The more obstinate, the better.

Very interesting what you guys did, turning it into a glow engine. So, then you need to post this also in the Glow Forum.

The carb replacement is almost self explanitory but I do have a couple questions.
What size Super tigre carb? And how did you a glow plug in the spark plug hole?
