Just my 2 cents:...........

Now my 3 cents:..........

I'm done with that.........I haven't done a soap box here yet. Just venting. Haven't been on the water. 60 deg end of next week. Maybe I should start using my boat packs to power my power chair. That way they'll be ready when the wx warms up.
Ohhhhhh...... "I feel the need......the need for....."

Hey got some extra pennies for me? I use mine to power the mini cooler to keep my meds cool. Been since somtime in November for me. I know the Feeling. I feel it to.

Been a little cold up there lately? It's been balmy and in the 30's and 40's here all week. Even broke out the bike and road to work all week (except for yesterday).

Speederson (MBP),
Any tips on pulling batts out of hibernation? I haven't used them since Dec. I stored them charged and cycled them about a month ago.

Thanks.

Really! I know you don't normally recharge at the lake. I get more punch from my packs on the second runs when I recharge them onsite.

Yeah, I take 4 sets with me and that's usually plenty. I'll probably do a 1A on Wed or Thurs, then discharge (it's going to snow now), then do a 2A, and then do a top-off at 2A to 120F on race day.

...and leave a pair of packs...or two...at home so you HAVE to recharge some at the lake. I think you'll be impressed with the difference in punch on the second peak of an "already run today" pack.

Speedo, it's 6:30 a.m. and I'm widdling styrofoam.... Going to try to pack my packs in place and prevent the disgarce of at the end of the race of having my batteries attack, hack and further crack my already battered and bruised orange cruiser... No ice here, baby!!

Are most you guys running the NiMH batteries? Man, things have changed in 15 years!. I got my Traxxas buggy going today. I bought a new stinger motor did a little wrenching, charged up the packs and after at least 8 years of not touching it everything worked perfect. I wanted to check up on the packs to get them ready for the SV27 in a few days. Well looks like there only 1500 matched packs. My charger is a Tekin bc100L and I dont know if it will charge these NiMH batteries. I really didnt want to get back in to deep.... hahaha I browsed around looking for loose batteries to make a few new packs with higher numbers but most everything is NiMH. if my charger charges NiMH then I will make some new packs, I got to find out, if anyone knows let me know or I need to call Tekin.

I don't believe that charger peaks NiMh batteries. If you wish to get away with it, charge your NiMh batteries until they they start to get real warm.

Although Nicd batteries have really low internal resistance when compared to most NiMh batteries, I don't believe 1500 Nicd's could compare to the new IB3800's.

I'd recommend going with today's 3800's or even good 3300's and buying a decent charger. It doesn't have to be expensive top of the line.

Yeah, running 12cell DTX3800s and Elite4500s. Real happy with both. I've only been running boats since last Sep and am waiting on going with lipos if I have to. Since your restarting the hobby, you might be in a better position to weigh if you want to dump the $$ into lipo or stay NiMh for a year or 2. If you plan on just sporting around, maybe go with NiMh. But for comp, many are jumping into the lipos for weight reasons. If you go NiMh, try at least 3600mAh or higher to give decent run times.
Try a charger that can charge lipo and NimH and highly recommend getting a charger that can charge 2 packs at a time (Duratrax Dual or SuperBrain 977). One that can use a DC input and AC is also better if you plan on charging at the "track".

What are you talking about Willis? Are you referring to the other post in the other thread? If so, I don't know. All I know is there's a 45A ESC and depending on the type prop and depending on how wet you're running, you will either stay under 45A or go over.

Your awake! It must be getting warm up there.

Speederson,
That means you're it. We really do need a MEP (Master Electron Putz).

All,
We currently have an opening in the position of MEP (Master Electron Putz). If you've stuck your fingers on electronic connections knowing full well what the outcome would be, then you qualify.
-On the spot hire.
-Full-time position.
-No pay.
-No medical because you're already infected with the FE disease.
